Hi everyone, I hope you all had a fabulous reading month. Rachel and I are back from our trips away (Greece for me and Vegas: ALA for Rachel), we are slowly still getting back into things, so please excuse us for our lack of commenting. June was really a mixed reading month for me, I had a couple of four star reads and some DNF's but we both have awesome books to look forward to, so we're hoping July will be a completely different month for both of us. We also have our monthly poll back this month, so please vote and help us decide what we need to read from our tbr piles. Here's our recap for June!
Number of Books read:
Jasprit: 8
Rachel: 14
Highest rating:
Jasprit: 4 stars.
Rachel: 5 stars

Rachel:
Jasprit: Nine Uses for an Ex Boyfriend by Sarra Manning. Last month again I didn't have the greatest luck with books, so I knew that I had to turn to an adult book by Sarra Manning to help me out of the funk, and once again she was able to deliver a funny laugh out loud read in Nine Uses for an Ex Boyfriend. Sarra had me glued to the pages of this book until the early hours (something which I haven't done in a long time).
Rachel:
Written in Red by Anne Bishop. I've been looking forward to this one for some time so in order to squeeze it in I bought the audio version and switched back and forth from the e-copy to the audio book. I couldn't get enough! Just so wonderful! I'll have my review up in July.
Book which surprised me the most:
Jasprit: We Were Liars by E Lockhart. I had heard a lot about this book before going into it, but didn't really know what to expect. And I did find the characters and writing hard to connect to, but that ending, seriously where did it come from? As I wasn't expecting it at all!
Rachel:
Mud Vein by Tarryn Fisher. I LOVED her Love Me Lies series (The Opportunist, etc,.) and so I had high expectations for Mud Vein. I HATED it. I rated it 2 stars and now I want to go back and rate it 1 star. The main character was so unlikable, and parts of the plot/mystery were such a let down.
Fictional crush of the month:
Jasprit: Wilson from Nine Uses for an Ex Boyfriend by Sarra Manning. This is only because he wasn't the typical sort of guy that I would go for, also he didn't start off leaving the greatest impression on me, but he slowly did win me over. He really was a charming, self-conscious, funny guy, and its quite rare to find guys like this these days, as they all seem to be cocky and full of themselves. But Wilson was quiet and it did take him a while to completely be himself with you. But when he was, he was 100% with you, there for you when you needed him the most, always giving out great advice and a great kisser!
Rachel:
Oh, Sam from Laugh by Mary Ann Rivers. He was so intense, passionate and sexy! I love a guy who isn't afraid to let his feelings show, and what a mouth!
Three books I'm most looking forward to this month:

I've had agonisingly year long wait for Shimmer, the ending was just brutal to the last book Haze, so I couldn't wait for July to come soon enough. I was lucky to get an early review copy and it's been fantastic so far, I haven't been able to put it down since. The Darkest Minds was a book which only just recently turned up on my radar, but everyone I know seems to have loved it and also I can't wait to meet this character that everyone seems to love. It's been six long months since I last read a book by Miranda Kenneally, I have adored all her previous books, so can't wait for this new book to arrive on my kindle!

Bookish Photo:
I went to London this week and got to visit my two favourite bookstores again Waterstones Picadilly (first photo) and Foyles (second photo). I always love visiting these book shops, as they always tend to have so many books from the US, that aren't kept at my local store. And of course I ended up going on a bit of a splurge, I shall share my book haul with you on our Showcase Sunday post this weekend.
If you guys read my series post here you will know that I have far too many series to get through, I am aiming this Summer to complete as many as I can. So for my month vote, I'm asking you to choose which series I should read, I have only listed the first book in the series on the poll, but think of it as the complete series. Voting will be open until the 5th of July!
Written in Red was amazing so I'm thrilled to continue the series with Murder of Crows. Better Homes and Hauntings sounds nice and creepy and I'm sure Molly Harper will inject her usual brand of humor which will add a lot of fun. I'm excited to start Jenn Bennett's UF series as I loved Bitter Spirits and Grim Shadows!

I hope you girls had fun on your trips!
Jasprit--Nine Uses for an Ex Boyfriend looks hilarious! I put off We Were Liars since it was boring me a bit, but I'm so curious about the ending... I really enjoyed both The Darkest Minds and Breathe, Annie, Breathe. :D
Rachel--I've been hearing so many great things about Written in Red and it's on my wishlist! I hope Murder of Crows is just as amazing. :)
Awesome post you guys :D Sigh. Sounds like you both had an amazing month. <3 So jealous that you both got to travel. I want to travel too, lol :) You both read some awesome books. Hoping this month will be good too. <3 Thank you for sharing; and happy reading :D
I voted for 'The thief' I started this series this year and I've only read the first two so far, but it's pretty good :) Seems like you had a great month. I hope July is just as good or even better, happy reading!

I absolutely ADORE LOVE FANGIRL for Written in Red - so excited that Rachel read and enjoyed it! The next one is just as good if not better!
Looks like you both had a good month! I haven't heard of several of these - going to check them out!
WRITTEN IN RED!!! SO GOOD!! YES, I"M ALL CAPS RIGHT NOW BECAUSE I LOVE THAT SERIES SO HARD!!
AH! I really, really need to start the Paula Weston series! Especially now that book three is almost out and I won't have to wait in between books. Definitely need to read Written in Red as well, everyone has just loved that book. Can't wait to see what you guys think of Shimmer and Murder of Crows!
Wow! This was a busy month for both of you! I love the bookish photos, and I hope you enjoy your reads this upcoming month!
You two had such a fantastic month! I adore your choice for Sam, Rachel and I love the bookish photos you both shared too.
Jasprit, I haven't heard much about Manning's Nine Uses but I'm so glad you enjoyed--I love Manning's work and definitely want to comb through her entire backlog soon. Like you, I'm really looking forward to Shimmer and absolutely NEED to find out what's going on with Gaby and Rafe! ;)
Rachel, Sam certainly is such a swoon-worthy crush and I'm so glad you enjoyed Written in Red since it's fantastic! I can't wait to see what you make of Murder of Crows, which is also brilliant, and Kindling the Moon, which is the nascence of one of my all-time favorite UF Series. (LON BUTLER!)
You ladies seem to have had a fantastic June, so here's to hoping your July is just as wonderful, if not better! :)
I voted for Sloppy Firsts, mainly because I want to read that series too. I've read the first book, but I should re-read it and then continue on. I believe I have the first few, so I'm ready to go. haha
i really want to read Written in Red and Better Homes and Hauntings too.
You girls had a great month! YAY for Breathe, Annie, Breathe! It looks really good. I wasn't a fan of Catching Jordan (LOVED the premise though so that was super disappointing) and didn't read Stealing Parker (horrible I know), but loved her latest one. So I'm excited to read about Annie next! Have an even greater July *hugs*
So jealous of both your trips this last month! Greece - hopefully I'll get there someday. ALA - hopefully I'll go next year (depending on finances and where it's located). But for now I'll have to live vicariously through your recaps. :)
Ooh I'll have to keep that Sarra Manning recommendation in mind, Jasprit.
Sounds like you both had awesome months, reading and life-wise!
I'm happy to hear that, Tabitha! I've already started it and I just want to lock the door and finish it! :)
ITS SOOOOO GOOD MARY! SEE THAT MY EXCITEMENT IS MAKING ME ALL CAPS TOO! LOL! :)
I'm so excited for Arcadia Bell, Keertana. Especially since I know you loved the series. I only wish there was an audio version available. *pouts*
Jenny, I think you would LOVE Written in Red! One word: SIMON!! :)
We're both victims of DNF this month, Jas. Luckily I had some better luck though as Five Ways to Fall was a 5 star read for me overall and seems like Rachel read some good stuff too :) Eeep! Sarra is totally your go-to author along with Sarah ;) Heh. Love that their names go so well together :D Yay, Rach! It's awesome that you loved Bishop as many of my other friends have loved it too :) Agree with you Jas on WWL. As for Mud Vein, I was so sorry to see that you didn't enjoy it, Rachel. But.. oh, well! I hope your next Fisher novel will be amazing yet again :) Don't know either of these crushes, but have to meet them for sure ;) THE DARKEST MIIIIIIND!!!!! LIAM. ME LOVES. I hope you do too :) and whoop for Murder of Crows! I hear it's a fabulous sequel ;) Annnnd. I envy you and your bookstores, Jasprit! Pretty sure I'd live there if I ever got a chance to visit them :D Great recap, ladies!
Great wrap up ladies! I hope you both had lovely trips! I'm so excited to read Come Back to Me and Shimmer this month. Agree with you about We Were Liars, Jas! People rave about it but I felt really disconnected from the characters. I saw the twist coming though and for me it was just an okay read. I hope you both have a wonderful reading month in July!
Jasprit We were Liars!!! Did you see that!! Yeah I couldn't believe it either but when you think about it everything makes sense. I really hope you'll post your review soon. You girls have read some amazing books this month and I really need to read that Bishop's series already. Great post! :)
Rachel, I am so excited you will be starting Kindling the Moon! Lon and Cady are one of my top, top, top OTPs ever! They are an amazing duo - I can't wait for you to meet them! Also, I found Murder of Crows to be even better than Written in Red. That Simon.. *sigh* So stinkin' adorable (probably shouldn't say that around him...)
Jasprit, I ordered all three books in Paula Weston's series and I'm very excited to start it. I've heard amazing things. Fingers crossed!
Happy reading in July, ladies. :)
