I'm back again with a Short & Tweetish Review (There's no way I can keep it to 140
characters!). This style of reviewing was introduced to me by Mary@The Book Swarm and Karen's @For What It's Worth.

Revenge is a dish best served cold.
Edie Kramer has a score to settle with the beautiful people at Blackbriar Academy. Their cruelty drove her to the brink of despair, and four months ago, she couldn't imagine being strong enough to face her senior year. But thanks to a Faustian compact with the enigmatic Kian, she has the power to make the bullies pay. She's not supposed to think about Kian once the deal is done, but devastating pain burns behind his unearthly beauty, and he's impossible to forget.
In one short summer, her entire life changes, and she sweeps through Blackbriar, prepped to take the beautiful people down from the inside. A whisper here, a look there, and suddenly... bad things are happening. It's a heady rush, seeing her tormentors get what they deserve, but things that seem too good to be true usually are, and soon, the pranks and payback turns from delicious to deadly. Edie is alone in a world teeming with secrets and fiends lurking in the shadows. In this murky morass of devil's bargains, she isn't sure who—or what--she can trust. Not even her own mind...
My
Thoughts:
Engrossing and disturbing, Mortal Danger combines revenge, horror, and the trials of high
school. Edie was a sympathetic character, a victim of cruel school bullying.
This pushes her to take a deal that ends up being too good to be true. The consequences are ugly and terrifying and
Edie is caught up in a deadly supernatural game. While Edie’s back and forth with Kian was
understandable, it was a little frustrating at times. Still, I was rooting for
their romance because they had so much in common, pain and circumstance. Revenge
stories can be tricky and very negative, so I was happy that Edie’s human compassion
made her horrified by the actuality in spite of her past treatment.

I like Ann Aguirre's writing so I want to give this series a shot once the entire series is out. Revenge plots can be tough for me but since you enjoyed this one I think I'll be okay with it. I understand why the romance was a bit frustrating though. I struggle with back and forth romances a lot too.
Lovely review, Rachel!
In real life--no way but in books makes for a great story-line. Where would we be without a good revenge plot? It's what motivates a lot of romance and suspense novels.
I haven't read this, but I do love Ann Aguirre, so I probably will. The revenge angle sounds pretty unusual.
I love Ann Aguirre's work - her fantasy more than contemporary though. But revenge is always an intriguing plotline!
I had a hard time with this book, Rachel. To be honest, most of Ms. Aguirre's books don't seem to agree with me. :/
I really like Ann Aguirre's contemporary books, but I'm still deciding if her fantasy ones would be for me. I'm glad you enjoyed this, and I hope you like the sequel, too!
Great review, Rachel.
I enjoy her writing contemporary and others. :)
Gorgeous review Rachel :D Thank you for sharing about this book. <3 I had a few more issues with it :\ Had to DNF book two :( Soobs. But I adore Ann. And I have loved other books by her :) So glad you liked this one, though ;p Thank you for sharing your thoughts :)
Oh, good luck to all the participants!
This sounds like the kind of book I'd like as it has some darkness to it. I can see howthe back and forth got frustrating, but then again, if you rooted for thier romance, that about makes up for it. Lovely review, girl!

Yeah Rachel!!! I really enjoyed this one as well - it started out a little rocky for me, I wondered about the message being sent given what Edie wishes for, but then the whole story changed and I was completely sucked in. Really looking forward to Public Enemies!
LOL "tweetish". Love it! I really liked this one, too! The back and forth was definitely a bit frustrating but I'm hoping it works out in the next story.
Usually it is at the very least a decent story with some suspense! :D

I remember this one being so creepy with all the different creepy characters from the company! O_O It reminds me of the game PERSONA somehow when it comes to that atmospheric aspect and the creepy characters. Even though I didn't love this one, I like it better than her Dystopian series.

Good to hear she is a sympathetic character and that the story was creepy
Lol! I couldn't go for just 'tweet' because I'm not abiding by the 140 characters rule. So 'tweetish' it is. :)
In my right mind, I'd never believe that revenge is a good thing. Unfortunately, I'm almost never in my right mind.
I am very fond of this information thanks for sharing with us
