Showcase Sunday #39

Showcase Sunday is a weekly meme hosted by Vicky at Books, Biscuits and Tea. The aim is to showcase our newest books or book related swag and to see what everyone else received for review, borrowed from libraries, bought in bookshops and downloaded onto eReaders this week.

Hello everyone, I hope you've all had a great week. I've got another small book haul to share with you guys this week, but one that I'm very excited about.

Thank you to Wendy from The Midnight Garden and Sam from Realm of Fiction.

Thank you to Harper Teen and Entangled Teen.

I was so happy to find out that I'd won copies of A Certain Slant of Light and Under the Light from The Midnight Garden, Wendy was a huge fan of these books, so I can't wait to give these books a go soon. Ask the Passengers had been on my wish list forever and I think it's about high time I read a book by A.S King, so thank you to Sam for sending it to me as a birthday present. How amazing does The Taking sound? Harper Teen has really spoiling me with great books up on Edelweiss and The Taking was one that I couldn't wait to get my hands on.

Lets see the books that Rachel received.

Thank you to Gallery Books, Atria Books, Diversion Books, and Netgalley.

Hounded (Iron Druid Chronicles #1) Audio-book by Kevin Hearne | Soulless (Parasol Protectorate #1) Audio-book by Gail Carriger | Skinwalker (Jane Yellowrock #1) by Faith Hunter | Dark House by Karina Halle

The Experiment in Terror series 1-7 and 4 novellas by Karina Halle. Each book in the series is on sale for .99 cents on Amazon and Barnes & Noble for the month of November. The first book (Darkhouse) is free on both sites!

I can’t wait to finish The Devils series by Karina Halle. Her writing is pretty addictive and the first one was super creepy! I was excited to get Four Seconds to Lose by K.A. Tucker. Yes, her books seem to follow the same NA recipe, but her writing seems to make up for that.

I think Audible has my number, luring me with their Daily Deals! I bought Hounded, Soulless, and Skinwalker on their Daily Deal for $3.95 a piece. That’s a steal of a deal when it comes to audio-books!

If you have posted a book haul this week, we'd love to see what you received, so leave us a link in the comments and we'll be over to check it out shortly!

  1. I'm so hopping over to Edelweiss right now and requesting a copy of THE TAKING! Kimberly Derting is one of my favourite YA authors, love her THE BODY FINDER books.

  2. Jasprit, I was both impressed and underwhelmed by A Certain Slant of Light, so I'm curious to see what you think about it. I've heard wonderful things about Ask the Passengers, though, and The Taking looks promising, even though Derting's last series didn't work out too well for me. I cannot wait to dig into Ink is Thicker Than Water, though - I looooved Spalding's debut, so I'm sure this is going to be another great book from her!

Rachel, I adored Soulless, but liked it so much as a stand-alone I never continued with the series. I'm hoping you do, though, and convince me to get back to it! ;) I'm also very curious about Sempre, Dark House, and Hounded, so I can't wait to see what you think of them all. Great haul, ladies! :)

  3. When is your birthday? :O So sweet of Sam :) I hear that A.S. King is one of the best authors out there :) As for Rachel's books, I'm afraid to read One Tiny Lie so I don't know when I'm going to get to the third one. Oh, and Sempre is on my tbr list, but that cover kinda freaks me out and the fact that so many people love it and it's freaking huge O.o So.. I'll just wait for your review :D

  4. Jasprit: Under the Light looks really good, I love the cover, it's natural and beautiful all at once. I also got The Taking--pretty cool cover, huh?
Rachel: I look forward to your thoughts on that Gail Carriger novel! I wasn't a fan of her YA series, so I am thinking of tryin here adult series soon.

    Happy reading, girls! <33

I'm excited to read Ink is Thicker than Water. It sounds like my kind of contemporary novel.

Rachel, I got Sempre too this week and I'm so excited to read because of all the positive reviews. Plus, I love the sound of it.

Enjoy your lovely books, lovelies! :)

  12. I really enjoyed The Pledge by Kimberly Derting, but the sequel was a DNF for me. And I wasn't really a fan of her Body Finder series, so I'm not sure about The Taking. Think I'll wait for your review!
