Q1.) Have you read this book? If so what did you think of it? I haven’t read this book yet, its part of a series which I know Donna from Book Passion for Life loved, so I can’t wait to get to it soon.

Q2.) Why did you buy this book? Were you recommended it? Was it a random purchase? I’d read some great initial reviews which perked my interest, also when I read the back of the cover and saw the gorgeous cover in the bookstore, I just couldn’t resist.

Q3.) Based on what you know about this book which other book blogger would you recommend it to? I haven’t read this book yet either, but this book has a 3.5 average from my friends on Goodreads.
Book Number: 55 Book: Defiance by CJ Redwine. Q4.) Who’s this books bookshelf neighbour? Its
neighbour on its left side is Deception by CJ Redwine, I remember loving the first book last year, and I can’t wait to see which direction Redwine will take its characters in this latest instalment. And Defiance’s neighbour on the right is The Catastrophic History of You and Me by Jess Rothenberg; I was of course totally enticed into buying a copy thanks to the lovely Maja’s review over at The Nocturnal Library.
Book Number: 34 Book: Stealing Parker by Miranda Kenneally.
Q5.) How many books have you read by this book’s author? I’ve read all of Miranda’s books, even her latest book which is set to release in December called Racing Savannah. I can’t recommend picking up Miranda’s books enough; she’s one of the best authors I’ve discovered in the last two years.

Q6.) Do you have any special memories attached to this book? I’ve not read this book yet, so I’ve gone with book number 13 on my bookshelf which is Where She Went by Meg Cabot. This book wasn’t actually available in the UK through a UK publisher. At the time this is when I used to read Meg’s blog like every single day, one day she had a giveaway up, all you had to do was send her an email saying why you wanted to read her books. I remember writing a fangirly email, not expecting much. But was overjoyed to find a copy of this book which I was dying to read on my doorstep one day. So thank you Meg!
Book Number: 12 Book: Queen of Babble in the Big City.
Q7.) Is this book part of a series? If it is are you up to date with the series? Yes! This is one of my all time favourite series, I actually read this series from time to time whenever I need a good comfort read, it provides such great characters and many laugh out loud moments.
Book Number: 1 Book: Hunting Lila by Sarah Alderson.
Q8.) Is this book something you’d typically read or is it out of your comfort zone? At the time I wasn’t going through the best paranormal phase, but I read this book with Rachel and Sam and we ended up devouring it in two days. It definitely took me by surprise and I have been a fan of Sarah's books ever since.

Q10.) Where did you buy this book from? I remember book two Queen of Babble in the Big City ended on a major cliffhanger, I was depressed, as I had a year long wait. So when my friend told me he was going to New York and did I want anything? I totally told him to get me a copy of this book (seriously I need to move to the US for all these early releases). And he was super sweet, with the girly cover and I’m sure he was out of his comfort zone buying me a copy with all his guy mates. But I was able to read this book a whole year early thanks to him.

Book Number: 76 Book: The Host by Stephanie Meyer.
Q11.) Roughly how long have you owned this book for? January 2009. I remember purchasing the Twilight series around this time and of course I had to get anything else that Stephanie Meyer had written too. This book definitely exceeded my expectations.
Book Number: 40 Book: Hold Still by Nina Lacour.
Q12.) Share the first sentence of this book. “I watch drops of water fall from the ends of my hair” This is another book which I haven’t read yet, but I was totally tempted to keep reading on from this quote.

Book Number: 60 Book: The Madman’s Daughter by Megan Shepherd.
Q13.) What’s your opinion on this book’s cover? I do love this UK cover, I love the deep red/maroons that have been used, and it’s done well to represent the blood. However I do think that I prefer the US cover slightly more, both have that creepy vibe going on, but the US cover seems to nail the creepiness more.

Book Number: 87 Book: The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon.
Q14.) In a few sentences describe this book in your own words. A magical world never seen before. Complex characters which slowly win you over. A story full of violence, mystery and loyalty. There was so much hype surrounding this book before that I was tempted to skip it. But sometimes you need to give these books a go; you never know you could be left surprised and a very happy reader like I was.

So much awesomeness in one place! I'm reading Deception now and loving it. Perhaps not as much as the first book, but it's still pretty great. And I love that you have The Chatastrophic History, I enjoyed that book so much!

ReplyDeleteAhhhhh how cool is this feature?! I wish I could think of amazingly awesome features like this, but alas, I just go with reviews and interviews. Creativity fail. I love the US cover for the Madman's Daughter, but that UK cover is really gorgeous as well! Love that maroon color:)

DeleteI totally fell for Ultraviolet's shininess in the bookstore too and I wholeheartedly agree that I can't recommend Kenneally enough either. I have loved all of her books! Neat feature!

The UK cover for The Madman's Daughter is freaking gorgeous O.o I have the first book in the Diary of a Crush series and I can't wait to read it:) I also own Adorkable--they both came in a last week--and I so so so so want to read them. I love how you're not a HC person. Most of the book fanatics I know prefer hardcovers and lately I've been purchasing more harscovers since you know I love my US paperback versions more than the smaller UK ones, however, I don't really want to wait for 9-12 months before I get a chance to get myself a copy of a book that almost everyone has already read :( Anyhow, this post is full of all sorts of awesome! And congrats on the new bookshelf:)

DeleteI LOVE this feature, it's so fun! And oh my goodness, I'm so jealous of all your books! I SO want to read Racing Savannah. The Madman's Daughter has such pretty covers. There definitely is more creepy to the US version although the UK is very pretty. Great post, Jasprit!

ReplyDeleteYour bookshelf is so tidy! It puts mine to shame. ;) I've had to resort to double stacking because of the lack of space and it looks AWFUL. I really just want a mini library room where I can just sort all of my books neatly.... I'll keep dreaming about it in the meantime!
