A Kid's Perspective #9: Judging a book by it's cover

A Kid's Perspective: Judging a Book By Its Cover is a feature hosted by Sara @ Forever 17 Books where Sara gets her six year old son Shawn's perspective on a few Young Adult covers.

Hi everyone, my sister is finally back with another interpretation of a book cover for you. With being off from school for the holidays, my sister had planned to share a few posts with you, but she's either been spending her time reading or listening to books by Jacqueline Wilson (we've enjoyed making numerous trips to the library and bookstore!) or watching Once Upon a Time. I'm so behind right now on this show, so my sister loves threatening to tell me what's been going on! But she finally had the time to pick out this cover to share with you!

I think this book was about a guy and he's a player. He dates this girl on the cover, everyone likes him, and she falls for him, but then she finds out that he was dating a different girl (one of the populars), the girl is then heartbroken. But then the guy comes to her house and apologises and makes all this stuff up and the girl forgives him. And that's how he Fools Me (her) Twice!

I do like the interpretation that my sister has gone for, I think her perspective is a lot more heartbreaking than the fun cover which is depicted because of all the US shows that she's been watching recently! But I do love the detail that she's added to the cover. So what do you guys think?

  2. The drawing is so adorbs! :D I think your sister kinda like drama, which is how I like things to be...sometimes! I am so behind OUaT. I used to binge-watch that show. I'll caught up soon. Lovely feature, Jasprit. You have a really creative sister. :)

  3. Aw! I love how she's gotten the position of the shoes just so, and that was a LOT of work to color in all that yellow with marker. Well done!

  5. She's getting better at this all the time! And I love that she's spending all that time reading, my kid is doing the same and I'm incredibly proud. Reading is one addiction I'm eager to pass on to her. :) IT seems to be working so far.

  6. That is definitely a great effort and a curious interpretation, it made me smile because looking at the cover, it could possibly be true! haha. I haven't actually heard anything about this book, so I think that made this meme more interesting. I hope you don't get Once Upon a Time spoiled by your sister however anytime soon! I do so hate it when people spoil shows! :)

  7. Haha! That is hilarious and at the same time really heartbreaking. What are you letting her watch, Jasprit? Get her off these silly teen dramas! :D
Her reasoning is very logical though! Your sister sounds like she's so much fun! :)
Now if only I could get my sister to watch OUaT with me!

  8. Hehe! I love her very dramatic take on the story, I can see a bit of our TV influence for sure ;-) I'm so far behind on Once Upon a Time too Jasprit, I'm not sure I'll ever get caught up!

  9. She's getting pretty good at her drawings! I like it! And darn those players. Always causing trouble and then apologizing for it.

  11. Aw, it does sound like a sad summary for a cute cover, but I like it since it DOES make sense. Love the drawing!

  12. I officially want to read your sister's version of this story. It's too cute. It's the type of romance I'd love to curl up with on a rainy day with coffee and ice cream and would completely "aww!" over by the end. I'm mostly impressed with her spin on the title of "Fool Me Twice"-- I know I couldn't have thought of that. Thanks for sharing, Jasprit! :)

  14. LOL Your sister is totally cool! I know how it is when a sibling is threatening to reveal spoilers from a show. So yeah, you have to be a good girl :) Anyhow another great art. Great post, Jasprit :)
