Showcase Sunday #14

Showcase Sunday is a weekly meme hosted by Vicky at Books, Biscuits and Tea. The aim is to showcase our newest books or book related swag and to see what everyone else received for review, borrowed from libraries, bought in bookshops and downloaded onto eReaders this week.

Hello lovelies how’s everyone’s week been so far? Rachel and I have had a few crazy weeks since we last did our showcase with being sick, long work hours and unpredictable weather driving us insane. But with the Christmas break just around the corner we can’t complain. Also we received some pretty neat books to cheer ourselves up with.

For review:

Dance of Shadows by Yelena Black
He's Gone by Deb Caletti
Out of Reach by Carrie Arcos
Who I Kissed by Janet Gurtler

Thank you Bloomsbury UK, Sourcebooks, Simon & Schuster and Random House.

Bought/gifted:

Live Through This by Mindi Scott
Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins

I read Lola and the Boy Next Door with Sam and seriously it was just what I needed. It was cute, light and so funny I had a big goofy grin on my face! Perkins sure knows how to write a book which leaves you with warm fuzzies! I CAN'T wait for the release of Isla and the Happily Ever After. Mindi Scott’s Live Through This has been on my wish list for a while, the early reviews have so far been really promising and look at the cover it’s so gorgeous! A big thank you to you Sam for sending it to me for my birthday! You rock!

I don’t normally have much luck with Edelweiss, but this week I was so so happy to receive He’s Gone. It’s been described as intensely gripping story of love and secrets, marriage and loss. Caletti is one heck of a talented author so I can’t wait to get started! I also had some great luck with NetGalley this week too; I received another two books on my wish list; Dance of Shadows and Who I Kissed. Honestly with this awesomeness I don’t know where to begin!

Over to Rachel to see the pretties she received.

Well this week has been sort of quite for review copies. I haven’t been requesting as many and trying to catch up.

For Review:

Dizzy by Jolene Perry and Nyrae Dawn
Wild Encounter by Nikki Logan

A big thank you to Entangled, Netgalley, Jolene Perry and Nyrae Dawn!

Bought:

My Favourite Mistake by Chelsea M. Cameron
First Grave on the Right by Darynda Jones
Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet by Darynda Jones

Unmaking Hunter Kennedy by Anne Eliot
Just For Now by Abbi Glines

I’m so excited to read Dizzy. It’s an antagonistic relationship that turns into, I hope, a romance, one of my favorite types. I bought quite a few books, probably more than I have listed here.  I bought First Grave on the Right because I’m listening to it on a borrowed audio (thanks Arlene @Winterhaven Books!) and I want my very own copy! I can’t wait to read Unmaking Hunter Kennedy. I loved Almost by the same author and loved it, and the cover is just *sigh*!

What did you guys get in your book haul this week? Leave us a link and we'll be sure to stop by and check it out.

Jasprit-I'm like excited for ALL of your books! Dance of Shadows looks so so lovely, and I've heard pretty great things for Out of Reach and Live Through This. And you can't forget about Lola. <3

Rachel-Dizzy looks awesome! And I've been interested in Chelsea's books for awhile now, I can't wait to read your review for that one. JUST FOR NOW, gosh I want that book so badly.

Awesome haul this week, ladies, and happy reading! <3

Jasprit, I desperately need to pick up Lola and the Boy Next Door. I don't think I'll like it as much as Anna, but it still sounds amazing! I haven't heard of your other novels, so I'm curious to see what you make of them - I have a feeling I'll be adding tons of books onto my TBR before long! ;)

Rachel, I haven't heard of the majority of your novels either except for the ones written by Darynda Jones, so I'm dying to see what you make of them. I really want to pick them up soon since I keep hearing such fabulous things about the series as a whole, so that's yet another adult series I need to get my hands on. Wonderful haul this week, ladies, and happy reading! :D

Awesome week ladies! I am very curious to see how you will like Dance of Shadows. I have mixed feelings and I need someone to chat with so read it first lol! I hope you both enjoy your books this week!

That's so awesome you and Sam read the same book together and she's so kind to have sent you a copy!

Enjoy them all! :)

Jasprit, your book haul this week is made of so much awesome. :) Doesn't Live Through This have the most fabulous cover ever? And I saw quite a few reviews praising it highly, so can't wait to read it too. AND HOLY COW I NEED TO READ ISLA AND THE HAPPILY EVER AFTER. NOW. Why must the release date be so far away? :( Boooo. And also, I cannot stop eyeballing the cover for Dance of Shadows. I've read a few reviews saying it was completely awful (and a cover fraud) but I still enjoy staring at it from a safe distance away. ;)

Rachel, you always manage to snag the most interesting sounding books! There seems to be this whole brouhaha surrounding authors Darynda Jones and Abbi Glines, so I better pull my act together soon and see what all the fuss is about. ;) I hope you enjoy your goodies, hon! Looking forward to your thoughts on them all. :)

Jasprit, I'm so excited that you received Dance of Shadows, I finished reading it this week and its brilliant, I thoroughly enjoyed it and it was my first proof copy. So I was very excited. I can't wait to see what you think! Who I kissed, looks like a really good book. Something that's not overly complicated and can relax to maybe! That's what I get about it anyways!:-) Lola and the Boy Next Door, looks seriously to good to pass and I haven't even read Anna and the French Kiss yet. I seem to be the only one now, lol! Or so I'm told! Hehe! You got some great books, I hope you enjoy them all.

Rachel, After meeting Darynda Jones I'm not surprised by the Charley Davidson series. They are so good, though I have yet to read the last book out! I can't wait to read her YA series! :-) Just for Now, looks like a lovely story and the cover is beautiful. It really tells you something! :-) I hope you enjoy them all!

Great haul, ladies! Here's mine if you want to stop by :-) My Showcase Sunday

Ohmyygoood. You guys have the best haul! I cannot believe there is a book out by Jolene Perry and Nyrae Dawn. Sounds like an awesome collab! I am so scared to read Who I Kissed for some reason. I mean, the whole peanut allergy and killing someone with a kiss plot. Aaah. I hope you enjoy yay for Lola :D Happy reading, you guys! And I LOVE the layout. I haven't been around in the blogosphere in a while and it looks awesome <3

I LOVE antagonist relationships that turn into romances! They are my favourite type too, Rachel, so I'll have to keep an eye out for Dizzy. I also need to get a move on with Darynda Jones' adult books. I can't wait to see what you think of them!

Jasprit, great haul! Doesn't Dance of Shadows have the most beautiful cover? I know a few of the early reactions haven't been too great though so I'm going in with low expectations. ;) And yay - I'm glad you are excited about Live Through This! It's had some promising feedback so I hope you enjoy it. :)
