Showcase Sunday #3

Showcase Sunday is a weekly meme hosted by Vicky at Books, Biscuits and Tea. The aim is to showcase our newest books or book related swag and to see what everyone else received for review, borrowed from libraries, bought in bookshops and downloaded onto eReaders this week.

As I missed out on a Showcase Sunday last week, this post covers all the books I received over the last two weeks.

For review:

Pushing The Limits by Katie McGarry
Crazy by Amy Reed
Never Enough by Denise Jaden

Thank you to Netgalley, Harlequin and Simon and Schuster Galley Grab.

These books hadn’t even caught my radar until the last week, but they have been receiving some great reviews that I get wait to get stuck in especially with Crazy.

Bought:

Slide By Jill Hathaway
Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins
Struck by Jennifer Bosworth

I decided to treat myself this week and went on a bit of an Amazon splurge. Slide and Struck I’d wanted to read for some time now and with interesting premises and an eye catching cover (Struck) I decided to go for it. Anna and The French Kiss was one of my all-time favourite contemporary YA novels last year, it’s one of those books that I get all giddy over with whenever I spot it on my bookshelf. I’d wanted to buy Lola and the Boy Next Door as soon as it was released but decided to put it off. I’m hoping that it will be just as good as Anna!

Borrowed:

Deadlocked by Charlaine Harris
Such a Pretty Girl by Laura Wiess
How it Ends by Laura Wiess
When it Happens by Susane Colasanti

The Sookie Stackhouse series has really lost the action and charm that once drew me to the series in the first place I was tempted to drop the series after book 11, but decided to give it one last chance. Things aren’t looking too great so far as reviews have been disappointing, but who knows may be I may end up enjoying it? Laura Wiess has been an author whose books I’d wanted to read for ages! So I was pretty stoked to discover that my library stocked her books. I was only meant to leave with How it Ends, but then I saw Such a Pretty Girl; it sounds a lot different to my usual reads, it has a much darker feel to it, but I was just drawn to the cover and knew I had to read this too.  I finished Colasanti’s Keep Holding On the other day and absolutely loved it, I actually sobbed my way through most of the second half, but promised myself that I would make a start on her other books as soon as I could. I’m hoping When it Happens will be a lighter read and that I won’t be left with big puffy eyes the next morning.

Swapped/ Freebie:

Bumped by Megan McCafferty
Clarity by Kim Harrington
Loving Emily by Anne Pfeffer

Bumped and Clarity were books which I had on my wish list for a while, so I’m grateful to Kay and Nina at U.K swap shop for trading with me!

Won:

Wander Dust by Michelle Warren

Wander Dust was another book which I’d heard awesome things about, so thank you to Mel at Mel’s Book blog for the giveaway.

So another great two weeks of books for me, what goodies did you get this week?

I can't wait to hear what you think of Wander Dust, Jasprit. I know Lisa and Maja both loved it. :) Also, I really like the cover for Such a Pretty Girl. I don't think I have heard of that one before! I hope you enjoy reading all these.

What wonderful goodies you got there, Jasprit. :) I wanted to read Wander Dust forever, and When It Happens, How it Ends, and Lola and the Boy Next Door have been on my TBR pile for a long time as well. Happy reading! :)

P.S. I received One Moment, Masque of the Red Death, Insurgent, and Five Flavors of Dumb this week too. :)

Oh, so many amazing books you received this two weeks, Jasprit! I hope you'll like Pushing The Limits, I heard it's a great touching read. I haven't read any Stephanie Perkins' books, but I'm hoping to start Anna and the French Kiss soon! It seems so cute. <3 I'm curious to hear what do you think about Bumped.

Happy reading, and enjoy your books! :)

Ahhh such an awesome haul Jasprit!!

For some reason I have no interest in reading Pushing the Limits even though everyone is going mad over it!

I'm hoping to read Slide REALLY soon, it sounds so different! I read Struck a while back and I thought it was good. The cover of Clarity is SO COOL! I love the cover I have too though which is the US paperback one. Both are nicer than the original US hardback one!

Yay for Loving Emily. <3 Wander Dust is in my haul this week too- I hope we both enjoy it!

Happy reading! :D

You have Pushing the Limits too? Yay!! I feel like everyone is getting that book lately and I'm literally running out of fingers and toes to count how many people I know fell in love with the Noah guy -- I'm really hoping you'll be one of them too! :') And I liked Anna just a bit more than Lola, but a lot of people felt the opposite from me so I might just be one odd duck x)

Amazing showcase this week, J! You have so many amazing books that I have no idea how you're going to choose which ones to read first. I can't wait to read your thoughts on all of them! :) <3

Uhmazing haul, Jasprit :D I'm so jealous that you got Such a Pretty Girl! I've been wanting to read it for agess but for some reason, the Kindle version is not available for my country and I dunno where I can get it from x_x Will be looking out for your review! And I hope you enjoy Lola and the Boy Next Door! Cricket is swoooon, though I like St. Clair a tiny bit more!

I got Pushing the Limits too! Cannot wait to read it :D And can't wait to hear your thoughts on Bumped and Slide! I liked Bumped, it was so clever but I liked Megan McCafferty's Jessica Darling series a lot more than Bumped. Buut I'll be reading Thumped soon!

Jasprit said...

Hilda you haven't read Anna yet? :O It's one of my absolute faves! I can't wait until you start it, so we can gush over it together! :)

Wow, another great week for you Jasprit! I've been hearing amazing things about Pushing the Limits, I can't wait for your thoughts on that one:) I adore all things Stephanie Perkins, so Lola is a favorite of mine. I didn't love her quite as much as Anna, but it's still such a cute story:)

So jealous of your amazing haul! Apparently, Lola and the Boy Next Door is the ULTIMATE contemporary YA novel and I've heard many good things about Slide! I also have Bumped in my TBR pile and I'm not sure whether I should bump it up to the top of my pile as there have been some mixed reviews :( hope you enjoy all your books, Jasprit :)
