Showcase Sunday #1

Showcase Sunday is a new weekly meme I’m taking part in hosted by Vicky at Books, Biscuits and Tea. The aim is to showcase our newest books or book related swag and to see what everyone else received for review, borrowed from libraries, bought in bookshops and downloaded onto eReaders this week.

As I didn’t post the books I got last week I’ve combined everything I got over the last two weeks into one post. I think this has probably been my best showcase yet!

For review:

The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa
Timepiece by Myra McEntire
One Moment by Kristina McBride
The Lifeguard by Deborah Blumenthal
Glitch by Heather Anastasiu
Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein
Between You and Me by Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus
Knee Deep by Jolene Perry

Thank you to NetGalley, Harlequin UK, Egmont USA, Open Road Media, St. Martin’s Griffin, Disney-Hyperion, Simon and Schuster and Tribute Books.

I think I may have gone a bit overboard with NetGalley, but how could I resist some of these amazing books? Especially with Code Name Verity, Timepiece and One Moment being up as read now options? The button was just glaring at me!

I’ve also read nothing but great reviews for The Immortal Rules and some are even saying it’s better than Kagawa’s Iron Fey series! So I was thoroughly excited to get a copy.

I would never have considered Glitch if it hadn’t been for the review by Eunice from Book Overdose, people with X-men like abilities? that alone was enough to make me go off and request a copy! You can read her fab review here.

Bought:

Insurgent by Veronica Roth
Slammed by Colleen Hoover
Take a Bow by Elizabeth Euhlberg

I tried stalling my reading progress as much possible with Insurgent but again it was another unputdownable read.  I think I may have fallen in love with Four even more. I didn’t think it was possible after reading Divergent, but seriously this guy! I will have my review up soon.

Slammed has been getting tons of 5 star ratings over the last few weeks, it’s been described as unputdownable and it is Hoover’s self-published debut novel! There have been quite a few hidden gems in self-published books recently, anyone remember Angelfall? And I’m one of those people who doesn’t need too much convincing to buy a book!

As you already probably know I’m a huge fan of contemporaries especially ones with music /performing arts themes, I had been pining over Take a Bow for a while now and the cover is just mesmerising so how could I resist?

Borrowed:

Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver
Boyfriend List by E. Lockhart
Boy Book by E. Lockhart

Delirium was one of the few dystopians I enjoyed, however when Pandemonium was released I didn’t go rushing out to buy a copy, of course I wanted more Alex as soon as possible, but I’d read some mixed reviews and a lot weren’t too happy with the way Pandemonium ends, I get all antsy over cliff hangers so I’m hoping this one won’t be too bad, who am I kidding when are cliff hangers ever good?

Catie over at The Readventurer and Mandee at Vegan YA Nerds have been flying through E. Lockhart’s series and thoroughly enjoying them. I think I’m in need of some funny reads so I can’t wait to get stuck in!

Freebie:

Elemental by Brigid Kemmerer

Elemental is the novella prequel to one of my highly anticipated series this year. All I’m going to say is four hot brothers anyone?

That’s me done, looks like I’ll have a super busy reading schedule over the next few weeks! I’d love to know what goodies you got this week!

Eee, amazing haul! I loved The Immortal Rules. I always go overboard at Netgalley too but it's IMPOSSIBLE to resist, especially when they're Read Now Books!

The Boyfriend List is hilarious and really cute. I hope my copy of Insurgent arrives soon!

Happy reading, Jasprit. :D

The Pandemonium ending was a terrible (and by that I mean evil) cliffhanger but it did leave me with some satisfaction! I can't wait to see what you think of it. :) Brilliant haul in the last two weeks Jasprit! You got a ton of awesome books. I'm looking forward to reading Knee Deep myself and I've heard great things about Take A Bow. Hope you enjoy it!

Thanks to you I have a few of those Netgalley books ;)

And I'm so glad you borrowed the first two Ruby Oliver books! I hope you enjoy them :D

Oh and I was considering buying Slammed as it's New Adult, can't wait to hear what you think!

Aah, amazing haul, Jasprit! Don't we all LOVE Netgalley? ;) I'm really interested with Between You and Me, so I'll look forward to your review on the book! I also have Glitch this week. It doesn't sound like the book I usually enjoy, but I really like the cover! x)

Enjoy your books this week, Jasprit! :)

Here is my haul this week. :)

Oh wow, I am salivating at all those good books. And I know that button stares at me too. ;) LOL!

I will be reading most of these books too, maybe we can compare notes? Are you on Goodreads? Can't find your link. :(

Great books, I hope you enjoy Insurgent and The Immortal Rules as much as I did :-) I also really enjoyed Pandemonium, though I know a lot of other readers felt their loyalties were being tested to breaking point! I've got Code Name Verity waiting to be read on my kindle, and Glitch is part of my books this week.
Happy reading :-)

Whoa, what an amazing week for you, Jasprit!
I kind of prefer the UK cover for Code Name Verity. I usually order hardcover when I love a book as much as I loved that one, but the US edition isn't nearly as pretty as the UK one. I just feel that it fits the story better.
I'm not the biggest fan of the UK Insurgent cover either.

Glitch is about superpowers? X-men-like abilities!? Sign me up!
Happy reading!

Nice haul, Jasprit. I'm so excited to hear you loved Four even more after reading Insurgent! Slammed is one I picked up as well after seeing so many 5 stars. Jolene Perry's book looks really good too. I'm not even going to touch Pandemonium after some of the reviews I've seen. I have that book too but I'm waiting til the 3rd is out. I will save everyone from my ranting, foot-stomping, and general hissy fits that accompany horrible cliffhangers! Haha! :)

It is so easy to go crazy on Netgalley:) I hope at least a few of them pull through for you, though I have very little doubt about Code Name Verity being A-MAZING. I don't think I've heard one negative word about it. I've never heard of Slammed...maybe I'm living under a rock? If you think it might be a hidden gem like Angelfall, I'm all over it. All.over.it. Thanks, Jasprit!

I have the same problem with Netgalley, haha. I always try to think: alright, read the books you already have there, but they always come up with these amazing titles I can't resist!

Happy reading! :D

I love the fact that almost everyone got Insurgent and One Moment this week <3 I'm dying to read both of these books. I'm reading Divergent at the moment (well, I'm almost at the end) so I'm really curious to find out how the story goes on.

Great showcase! xxx

I've got One Moment and Glitch as well. Take a Bow sounds great. I have read The Lonely Hearts Club, which is written by the same author and I enjoy it very much. Have you read that? I downloaded Elemental too. Happy reading! :-)
