Showcase Sunday is a weekly meme hosted by Vicky at Books, Biscuits and Tea. The aim is to showcase our newest books or book related swag and to see what everyone else received for review, borrowed from libraries, bought in bookshops and downloaded onto eReaders this week.
I
honestly thought these last two weeks were quiet in terms of the books I
received, but these last few days contributed some of the best books to my
showcase pile; My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century, Midnight City and Dash and Lily’s
Book of Dares. All of these I’ve been eager to dive into.
If I Lie Corrine Jackson
The Forsaken Lisa M. Stasse
Point of Retreat Colleen Hoover
Dash & Lily's Book of Dares Rachel Cohn & David Levithan
Dash & Lily's Book of Dares Rachel Cohn & David Levithan
Crewel Gennifer Albin
Onyx Jennifer L. Armentrout
My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century Rachel Harris
Midnight City J. Barton Mitchell
Thank you to Simon & Schuster, Harlequin UK, Heather Riccio and Macmillan Children's publishing group.

My
review pile finally seems to be getting under some sort of control, but there
always seems to be a non-review book which pops up and makes you want to fling your
other books out of the window. I wasn’t a huge fan of Obsidian by Jennifer
Armentrout, I initially had some reservations about picking the second book
Onyx up, but then some awesome reviews started coming in and I kind of got all
excited again. I promised myself that I would order a copy
after I tackled a few more review books, but my hand totally went off on its
own accord hitting the one click buy button. But I have no regrets so far as I
seem to be enjoying this a lot more than Obsidian.
Defiance C.J. Redwine
Time Between Us Tamara Ireland Stone
Full Blooded Amanda Carlson
Wolf Pact Melissa De la Cruz
Thank you Atom, Orbit books and Miranda Kenneally for the bookmarks.
Defiance
was another book that I knew I had to read once I came across it earlier this
year; the gorgeous cover and enticing premise just screams pick me up! So I was
ecstatic to receive a review copy thanks to Atom. I’ve been tearing through at
a frenzied pace and absolutely loving it.
The
Time Between Us also has another interesting premise; it reminds me a lot of
The Time Travellers Wife. I’m also one of those people where I want something
more when I know I can’t have it (this book was up on NetGalley, but the
publisher at the moment doesn’t accept requests from bloggers). So I was happy
to receive a copy through a swap on Read it Swap it. I do however much prefer
the U.S cover which you can see for yourselves here.
Now over to Rachel to see the pretties she received.

Safekeeping Karen Hesse
Stormdancer Jay Kristoff
Take it Like a Vamp Candace Havens
Thank you to Feiwel and Friends, Thomas Dunne Books,
Candace Havens and Netgalley.
For some reason I thought I didn’t request Stormdancer
and I was so relieved because I started seeing reviews come through that talked
about overly detailed writing, which makes me snore. I figured out I did indeed
request it (darn my twitchy Netgalley finger!) when they sent me an approval
email, so hopefully the writing won’t bug me too much. I’m really excited for
Take it Like a Vamp. It sounds like a really cute adult paranormal
romance.
Bought
Cold Kiss Amy Garvey
Enshadowed Kelly Creagh
Seduction and Snacks Tara Sivec
I
downloaded Cold Kiss for free on Amazon after Andrea at The Bookish Babe tweeted that
it was free. Thanks Andrea! I’m both nervous and excited for Enshadowed. I’ve
waited so long for this sequel but I hope it doesn’t end on a killer cliffhanger
like Nevermore did. I finished Seduction and Snacks Tuesday and it is flipping
funny! It’s an adult read and very
raunchy, but I was laughing through the whole story.
As
a side note, you may have noticed we’re holding a giveaway
for the ARC Amber
House by Kelly Moore, Tucker Reed and Larkin Reed. The authors noticed
this, contacted us, and graciously offered to sign our ARC for the lucky
winner. Jasprit and I thought this was so sweet and just wanted to say thank
you to the authors! Also, they’ve decided to hold their own giveaway on their
website for Amber House starting immediately after ours finishes on September
6th. So if you don’t win our giveaway, make sure you head over to their site
and sign up here.
They’re giving away TWO signed ARCs. I loved this spooky mystery/romance so you
should definitely check it out!
With us trying to keep our tbr's in check, you can see this so didn't happen. But we do have so many lovelies that we can't wait to jump into. Which books did you get this week? Leave us a link and we'll stop by and check it out.
Also I (Jasprit) will be away in London for the week. As I'm not sure whether I'll get access to the internet as often I've scheduled some blog posts, and will be sure to check out all your lovely blogs when I get back.

Yay! So many amazing books, you two! :) Jasprit, I absolutely loved If I Lie, Onyx, and Midnight City, so I think you'll really enjoy those! I'm so glad you were able to snag a copy of Midnight City before its release too! :D Plus, those bookmarks look awesome! I hope you enjoy your stay in London dear and I'll miss seeing you on my blog, but I'll be excited to see all your scheduled posts!
Rachel, YOU'RE GOING TO READ STORMDANCER! Yaayyyy! I'm so excited! I also bought Cold Kiss and Enshadowed this week, so I am really excited to start both of them! I hope you enjoy all your books, hun, and I'll definitely be keeping my eye out for your updates/review on Stormdancer! I hope you enjoy it, despite its slow start! :D

Amaaaaazing books!!!
I got Midnight City recently and I've heard great things about it! I hope we both love it. :)
About Stormdancer -- I read that a few weeks ago. The BEGINNING part (first ~70 pages) has loads of overly detailed descriptions. I'm talking about descriptions that span several pages. I kept tuning out and wanted to DNF the book, but kept moving on. But once the action kicks in around page 70, the descriptions drop down to a more "normal" level and the book gets *great*! So hang in there, and know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel! LOL!
Have a great week. :)

You both got some seriously amazing books these past few weeks!
Jasprit- I thought both Dash & Lily's Book of Dares and My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century were really cute and fun books. I enjoyed them, and I will be looking our for your review! =) I won a copy of Crewel a few weeks ago, and I liked that one too, although some little things irked me. The Forsaken looks really awesome, but I'm on the fence about whether or not I should buy it. I'll have to see what you think to help me make my decision!
Rachel- I've heard a lot of iffy things about Stormdancer so far as well, so it'll be interesting to see if you like that one! I'll keep an eye out for your updates and review. I also bought Cold Kiss last week, who could resist?! It's free! ;) I've heard really great things about Nevermore, but have yet to read it. But I hope you like the sequel!
Fabulous haul you two! Enjoy your books, and have fun in London Jasprit! <3
Oh lala! I got Rachel Harris's book this week as well--I can't WAIT to read it, seeing the blog tour going around and all! I've heard that the prose is beautiful and rich in STORMDANCER, can't wait to see what that's about too. Happy reading, ladies!
Awesome book haul! I hope you love Cold Kiss! My cousin was just telling me a few minutes ago that I must read Time Between Us. I'm so excited to see that you loved Snacks and Seduction, b/c I bought it last week and can't wait to read it. I hope you enjoy all the books!
Wow, SO MANY AMAZING BOOKS, Jasprit and Rachel! I just finished Defiance yesterday and really enjoyed it although it wasn't what I expected at all! Time Between Us sounds really interesting and I can't wait to read it too!
Stormdancer! I read it recently and it was AMAZING. Jay's writing was fantastic and the world-building was great too.
Awesome books this week, you both! ♥ Hope you enjoy all of them and happy reading!
PS: Hope you have a great time in London, Jasprit! I really really want to go to London ;)
My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century! Crewel! Onyx! Jasprit, you're so lucky!<3

Guys, I just died of jealousy. No seriously!! How do you get such amazing books!!! Eeeeeeeeeep okay going away now before I explode :P
So much awesomeness with your haul this week, I don't even know where to begin! Crewel,Defiance,Forsaken, all ones I need to get my hands on! I got Onyx the other week, but I'm waiting to get my new matching paperback version in before I read it. Enjoy everything!
The Forsaken has been on my tbr pile for ages - I really need to hurry up and read it! Was so excited when I got accepted to read Midnight City as it sounds awesome, but I don't think there's a kindle option. :(
You got so many awesome books this week, Jasprit and Rachel! Glad to know you're enjoying Onyx, Jasprit! I've heard so many good thing about Crewel and If I Lie. My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century sounds like a really fun read. I got a copy of Dash and Lily's Book of Dares ages ago but still haven't read it. *fail*
So many people are loving Stormdancer! Glad to see you were able to get an ARC of it too, Rachel! I've seen Seduction and Snacks in goodreads and it sounds like a fun and humorous read.
Hope you enjoy all these books, girls! Happy reading! :)

enjoy all . enjoy . full blooded . kind of green
Jasprit, I really look forward to seeing what you think of If I Lie! I've only heard positive things about it so far. :) Readalong, perhaps? :) I also have Crewel for review, and even though the reviews for it have been mixed, the cover is gorgeous and the premise so interesting. Fingers crossed it will exceed our expectations...
Rachel, I'm currently reading Stormdancer! It's true, the writing is overly descriptive and dense, and there are often inserted Japanese words that the average reader wouldn't know, but the world-building is ingenious and original! I hope you like it. :)
Great haul, ladies! Enjoy your goodies. :)
Wow! Great haul guys!
Jasprit, I haven't had the chance to speak to you before... Any ways, Hi. I'm a new blogger. :) You have some great books. How do you keep up with books? I envy you! LOL! I need to check out Obsidian! I have seen this across load of blogs... I hope you enjoy it... Defiance looks awesome, both from the cover and synopsis. I have requested Crewel, hopefully I'll get a chance to receive it.
Rachel, Nice haul of books! Again, I'm falling behind on YA books and need to catch-up.I have requested some of these like Stormdancer, fingers-crossed I get to read it. Oo I may pop over to Amazon and get Cold Kiss, looks like another good book. =)
Enjoy the books girls. Happy Reading.
Emma
P.s here's my SS if you would like to pop over... http://neverjudgeabookbyitscovers.blogspot.co.uk/2012/09/showcase-sunday-3.html
I'm trying to get through Defiance at the moment Jaspirit and I'm really struggling. Glad to hear your enjoying it, I was really looking forward to it too. And I think your the first person I've heard say they didn't love Obsidian lol, I haven't read it yet but I do hope to soon. I hope you enjoy Onyx more. I read Forsaken recently and I really enjoyed it. I hope you enjoy all your books.
@Rachel, I didn't request Stormdancer, it just didn't appeal to me. I hope you're able to enjoy it. And I really hope to eventually get around to reading the Nevermore series, it sounds really good. Enjoy all your books.
Happy reading guys :)
Wow awesome haul! Onyx is great and I adore Point of Retreat. I cannot wait to read Defiance and I just finished Enshadowed and it was worth the wait. But you heard right, it is another cliffhanger. Lets just hope the wait for the third book isn't another two years! Thanks for stopping by My IMM
Teresa @ Readers Live A Thousand Lives
Oh I really want to read Enshadowed. LOVED Nevermore so I'm excited to finally get my hands on the sequel. Hope you love it!
-Lauren
I don't even know where to begin! Stormdancer is such a wonderful book, but it requires a certain amount of patience. The first part is pretty hard to get through. Cold Kiss is one of my favorite books ever, I just preordered the sequel and I think I'll die when I finally get it.
I'm so curious about Defiance, Jasprit! The reviews have been all over the place and I just need to find out for myself.
Happy reading, darlings!
I am so insanely jealous that you have Wolf Pact!! Well I am insanely jealous over everything actually lol!! I really can't wait to see what you ladies think of everything!!
