Review: Finding Cinderella by Colleen Hoover

Finding Cinderella (Hopeless, #2.5)
Finding Cinderella by Colleen Hoover
Publisher: Atria Books
Publication date: October 14th 2013
My rating: 4 stars

This novella is a companion novel to the Hopeless series, but can be read as a standalone.

A chance encounter in the dark leads eighteen-year-old Daniel and the girl who stumbles across him to profess their love for each other. But this love comes with conditions: they agree it will only last one hour and it will only be make-believe.

When their hour is up and the girl rushes off like Cinderella, Daniel tries to convince himself that what happened between them only seemed perfect because they were pretending it was perfect. Moments like that with girls like her don’t happen outside of fairytales.

One year and one bad relationship later, his disbelief in insta-love is stripped away the day he meets Six: a girl with a strange name and an even stranger personality. Daniel soon realizes the way he pretended to feel about Cinderella and the way he really feels about Six may not be so different after all. Especially when the two loves of his life end up being one in the same.

Unfortunately for Daniel, finding Cinderella doesn’t guarantee their happily ever after…it only further threatens it.

Finding Cinderella made me fall in love with an insta-love romance!  Seriously!

Daniel has a chance run-in with a girl in a maintenance closet, of all places. He’s had a mistake in his schedule and his 5th period slot was left empty.  Daniel doesn’t point out the error, instead he uses the time for quality napping in the school maintenance closet.   That’s until a girl stumbles in crying and his comforting leads to conversation and more.  They only meet a couple of times, and keep their identities unknown, but their connection is intense and makes a lasting impression.

Fast forward one year and Daniel meets Six.  Six is like no other girl he’s known.  He’s completely taken with her the minute he meets her, and Six seems to share the feeling.  I’m not spoiling things by telling you that they are the couple from the closet, as it’s mentioned in the description, so as a reader you keep wondering when they’ll put it together.

I never thought I’d be swayed by an insta-love romance, but I’m happy to be proved wrong.  I was sucked in by the sweet, soaring highs both Daniel and Six experience from each other.  They have such an intense effect on each other, and thankfully it’s mutual!  They share all-consuming kisses, longing stares and can NOT keep their hands or lips off each other.  While you think this is all a lighthearted swoony romance, there’s a heartbreaking surprise that sort of socks you in the gut.  No worries, Colleen Hoover will leave a smile on your face in the end.

This was only a 105 pages, and I know sometimes as a reader a novella can make you feel a little short changed in story at the end, but Ms. Hoover’s writing made every page count.  She managed to make a small page count feel like such a large, wonderful story!

Finding Cinderella is still free on Amazon, click HERE for the link.

She sure did make the pages count and I adored this novella so so so much. I'm not big on novellas, but boy was I ever in love with these two. I came to care about them in such a short period of time and I loved that it shocked me. I NEVER would have guessed THAT!!!!! It was, honest to god, an OMG moment for me. I loved this pretty and I'm so glad you did too, my friend!

Wow, finally swayed by an insta-love romance? Hmm... I've read Hoover's debut duo, Slammed and Point of Retreat, but wasn't impressed by either. Maybe this will work out better for me, though...we'll see! Great review, Rachel!(:

Well that is new! I am never a fan of insta-love, unless it's a Katie McGarry book of course :P

Fab review, hun! <33

I don't really read novellas but I'm definitely going to be reading this one because I've been hearing nothing but fabulous things about it. Plus, this is Colleen Hoover we're talking about, so despite me being against insta-love, I will be reading this one. I got this one from B&N and I'll be reading it probably this weekend.
Lovely review, Rachel! :)

Seriously? In love with insta-love? Of course, that usually happens in novellas, just because there isn't enough time for anything else. All-consuming kisses help, though.

Four stars- Colleen Hoover- Novella- free on amazon- and swoony insta-love? Count me in! I've seen this make rounds but had NO idea it was a novella or much else, really. Thanks for your review, Rachel :D

I still have not read anything by Colleen Hoover. I feel like I should have to wear a scarlet "H" on my chest so everyone will know my shame Rachel:) I definitely want to read Hopeless though, Aman has already convinced me I should start there, so that's what I'm going to do. Good to know this can be read as a standalone though! Can't wait to finally get on the Hoover train:)

Great review. I haven't read anything by this author, but it sounds like I should. I'm so behind on some of these awesome NA authors. haha I'm glad you loved this one, even with the insta-love.

Loved Hopeless but This Girl was a bit of a disappointment for me. I would love to try something else by her and I like that this is a sweet insa love store that sucks in you despite the short lenghth. Getting my copy now!

Clearly napping during classes always pays off. :)) I shouldn't be so hard on my students, they probably hope to have a similar run-in. I have yet to read anything by Hoover, but I know I will and I know I'll like it. I just need to be in the right mood.

I love the title and it does sound great! I was very wary at the thought that she actually broadcasts insta love in the synopsis, but my fears have disappeared after reading your review! Great review, Rachel :)

I read this back-to-back-to-back-to…well, you get the point. I couldn't get enough of Daniel and Six's story! They're a chockfull of fun. I can't believe Hoover was able to insert such heavy angst in little pages.

Great review, Rachel. Love, love this one.

I'm pretty sure that Colleen Hoover could make me believe in ANYTHING. I love her books so much. She indulges us so with her romances, and especially the fact that this one was FREE. Finding Cinderella has everything I could want in it's short length. <3
