Weekly Recap #26

Hi everyone, with Rachel and I's crazy work schedules, we miss sharing whats going on with us. We used to have a lot of fun with our Showcase Sunday posts, so thought we'd do something regular on the blog, where we share bookish news and life news in general as a weekly recap! We've decided to link our weekly wrap up's with The Sunday Post hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated reviewer.

WHAT I READ/REVIEWED

I only managed to read one book this week :( I'm totally slacking on reading, I don't know what is going on, Words in Deep Blue I had been meaning to read for sometime now, so was happy when I was finally given the chance by a UK publisher. Once again Crowley mesmerised me with her beautiful words, I just wished that I was able to love this one that little bit more!

I enjoyed the newest installment of the Alpha & Omega series.  I learned a couple of surprising things. I'll have my review up this week.  Into the Black Nowhere was a page turning mystery/thriller! Can't wait until the next one!  The Sometimes Sisters was so good! One of my favorite of Carolyn Brown's to date!

BOOKS RECEIVED

I've been quite good this week, as I didn't get any new ARC's this week or make any book purchases, I do have a couple of books that I've pre-ordered, so I can't wait until they arrive!

This sounds like an exciting thriller.  Hoping I love it!

NEW TO MY TBR

There's nothing I enjoy more than curling up with a Wintery-themed book and a hot chocolate! I'm not usually one to read anthologies either, but when I first saw this book on Twitter I just knew it would be my sort of book! Roll on October!

I've been loving Maisey Yates so had to add this new one.

  WHAT I'M WATCHING:
Jasprit

I'm slowly making my way through this series, I'm currently on Season 6 and things are crazy as usual, but for once I'm actually enjoying it, even though Olivia Pope does annoy me at times.

Rachel:

I haven't watched anything this week, but I want to watch a Passengers sometime this weekend.

EVENTS OF THE WEEK

Jasprit

The weather has been completely awful here, I was lucky to be off from work on Thursday and Friday as the commute to work would have been ridiculous in this snow. I don't mind the snow, but when there's a constant brutal wind in your face you don't feel like leaving your house at all. Apparently it's meant to last until the weekend. And I went to watch Black Panther, I'm a huge Marvel fan anyway and can I just say this is one of the best Marvel films I've seen! My local cinema were kind enough to create a guide of upcoming superhero movies in 2018, seriously I'm so excited especially the newest Avengers, X-Men and Venom (Tom Hardy, say no more!)

Rachel:

I've been running again, but not for the last two days since it's been raining a bunch here.  I'm going up the coast on Thursday for a little getaway and I'm excited that I only have to work three days next week! It's been so busy at work I'm dead by the time I get home, so it'll be nice to get a break.  I hope to get a lot of reading and relaxing in.

How was your week?

Someone told me once that Alpha and Omega are almost better than th e main Mercy Thompson series. I've only read the first Mercy so far but her world is definitely intriguing! And Words in deep Blue is supposed to be pretty good, I guess.

Curious what you think of PAssengers, since there's a plot point there that just begs discussion! I didn't love it but it was thought provoking.

Yay for Black Panther! I do think it's one of the better MArvel movies...

Have a great week you guys!!

I heard about how awful the weather has been over there, Jasprit! The wind is always the most annoying part of cold weather. I'm glad you got off though.
Ahh I really loved Words in Deep Blue, so I'm glad you at least liked it! Oh I hadn't heard of Snow in Love, but it sounds so cute. I'll have to add it to my TBR.

Rachel, I need to pick up something by Patricia Briggs. Her books sound amazing. I was curious about Passengers, but wound up losing interest when all those reviews came out talking about how problematic the movie is. I hope you enjoy your getaway trip! :)

Crowley is a solid fave of mine. I fell in love with her via Words in Deep Blue, but went on to buy her other books, which are also fantastic. I am not a super fan of anthologies either, but Snow in Love features too many of my favorite YA authors to pass up. I need to get that book.

I used to watch Scandal, but it just got too crazy for me. I might give it a shot now that I can binge without waiting for a week for a new episode!
Hope you both enjoy your books!

Rachel - enjoy your getaway! I hope you get some running in this week. I've been running on the treadmill since our weather has been either cold or rainy. Hopefully this week I can get outside. Also, I'm loving Into the Black Nowhere!! So good.

Jasprit - I've heard such good things about Black Panther! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Hopefully the weather gets better for you. Have a great week!

Jasprit-- I can't wait to see Black Panther! And to read Cath's new book, although I'm so sad you didn't love it as much as you'd hoped. :(

Words in Deep Blue and the Sometimes Sisters. Both are terrific. Ugh... rainy weather. Hopefully it will dry out for all of us and we will get some sunshine and spring like weather. I haven’t watched a grown up movie in awhile. The last one I wathced was Get Out. It was really good.
