Weekly Recap #28

Hi everyone, with Rachel and I's crazy work schedules, we miss sharing whats going on with us. We used to have a lot of fun with our Showcase Sunday posts, so thought we'd do something regular on the blog, where we share bookish news and life news in general as a weekly recap! We've decided to link our weekly wrap up's with The Sunday Post hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated reviewer.

WHAT I READ/REVIEWED

Things have still been a little mixed for me reading-wise, Wait For You and Playing Dirty I ended up DNF'ing, I really tried, but there were just too many eye rolling moments for me. And Faking It I only ended up rating 2 stars. My only highlight of the week was Alex Approximately, I ended up loving the heck out of this and can't wait to read more by Bennett straight away!

Rachel:

I had a great reading week, and enjoyed all the books above.  I was pleasantly surprised to love The Woman Left Behind, because I had seen some lackluster reactions with the book.  Personally thought it was wonderful!  Zero Day was an amazing series ender.  I should have my review up this week.  I was thrilled to get back to the world of The Others with Lake Silence!

BOOKS RECEIVED

I'm excited to be taking part in the blog tour for Starry Eyes,  as I mentioned I loved Alex Approximately, my first book by Bennett, so I have high hopes for this book too. And it seems like ages since I read a book by Gayle Forman, I've always been a fan of her books and the reviews I've read from close friends for this book so far have been highly praising! I will be reading both of these books with Rashika, so here's hoping they work out for us!

I love Roni Loren's writing, and although I was a little disappointed with the first book of this series I'm looking forward to The One You Can't Forget.  The Kiss Quotient sounds really good even though I'm not excited about the hero being a male escort. I've been enjoying RaeAnne Thayne's romances so I snatched up The Cottages on Silver Beach.

NEW TO MY TBR
Jasprit

This book came across my radar thanks to a fellow reviewer on Goodreads, and I have to admit my interest was piqued straight away, I've been putting off buying a copy, as I have so many of my own books to read, but I think I'll have a hard time resisting for long.

Rachel:

I added the upcoming The Others #7 by Anne Bishop. There's no cover or description yet, but it's supposed to release in 2019.

  WHAT I'M WATCHING:
Jasprit

I'm still on Season 7 of Scandal, Olivia Pope is once again annoying the heck out of me, but I just can't seem to stop watching, I ended up watching 6 episodes in one day the other day! Despite my complaints I'll be sad to see this series come to an end this year, as it's been a huge part of my life!

Rachel:

Started watching again and got to the end of season two. All I can say is wow!

EVENTS OF THE WEEK

Jasprit

This week Rachel and I celebrated our six year blogoversary, I can't believe that we've been blogging for so long, to say thank you we have a giveaway for two 2018 pre-orders, you can enter by clicking on the button above!

Rachel:

Yay for six years! I still running and training and trying to get a handle on my calorie intake because I've put on a few pounds and my clothes are tight. *sigh* You'd think running four times a week and strength training three days I'd lose weight, but this is the second time with training that I've gained.  Brandie has a Facebook group where we all check in and discuss our experiences trying to keep fit and stay healthy, and I guess this isn't unusual.  I think when I run I get really hungry and I haven't been as strict about what I snack on.  I need to portion things out for my snacking to head off this trend.

How was your week?

Oh dear, I liked Wait For You and Faking It (if memory serves! They were both read a long time ago, lol).
Really glad The 100 is getting a 'wow' reaction. It's next on my binge watching list! :)

Aww! I'm sorry to hear that you've had such a mediocre reading week, Jasprit. I'm glad you loved Alex, Approximately though. I loved that book too. Oh and you MUST read The Anatomical Shape of a Heart. It's one of my favorite books from her! And her adult books are amazing too.

So glad you liked Lake Silence, Rachel. I loved being back with the characters too. The Kiss Quotient is one of my favorite books of the year. I hope you love it as much as I did.

Have a good week! :)

Congrats to you both on 6 years! That is an accomplishment for sure. Jasprit I'm sorry you didn't like Wait for You! That sucks. Hopefully your next books are much better. Rachel I am glad you liked The Woman left behind. Its coming up soon on my TBR!

Congratulations to the both of you! Six years is such an awesome accomplishment.

Jas - I read both Starry Eyes and I Have Lost My Way this weekend, and I LOVED them both. I hope you enjoy them too.

Rachel - I cannot wait to hear what you thing of the Kiss Quotient. The early buzz is good and it looks like a book I could love. Enjoy!

Jasprit: I'm really curious about I Have Lost My Way. Hope you enjoy!

Rachel: I've heard that exercise is more about staying in shape and keeping pounds off a bit, but it doesn't really help with losing weight per se - meaning you have to eat really well still. Frustrating, right? You got this though!

Jasprit - I'm sorry you've had a few not so great books this past week but yay for Alex Approximately! I really hope you end up loving Starry Eyes.
Rachel - I didn't realize the new Roni Loren book was up on Netgalley but I put in my request and am sitting here with fingers crossed!

I've heard good things about Alex Approximately but haven't got around to getting the book yet. Congrats on blogging for 6 years! 6 years is a very long time!

Rachel - I am feeling the struggle right along with you. I had thought I'd be losing during my training, but it seems to be the opposite. And I'm still so hungry all the time! UGH. We'll get through this and get back on track!!

Jasprit - I'm glad you enjoyed Alex, Approximately, as I have a copy to read sometime! I'm sorry your other books were duds. Hopefully this week is full of some good reading!

I hope you both have a great week!!

I need to figure out where I stopped watching The 100 and catch back up because that show was so much dang fun. My friend keeps telling me I really need to squeeze in Scandal too.
