Showcase Sunday #9

Showcase Sunday is a weekly meme hosted by Vicky at Books, Biscuits and Tea. The aim is to showcase our newest books or book related swag and to see what everyone else received for review, borrowed from libraries, bought in bookshops and downloaded onto eReaders this week.

I'd Tell you I Love You, but then I'll Have to Kill You by Ally Carter
Cross my Heart & Hope to Spy by Ally Carter
Don't Judge a Girl by Her Cover by Ally Carter
Heist Society by Ally Carter
Suicide Notes by Michael Thomas Ford

Another brilliant two week showcase for me, that I honestly can’t decide which book I want to start with first. Tesco books has brilliant giveaways every Friday on twitter. I was quite surprised when I won a set of Ally Carter books (as I never win anything). The best thing about winning these books was that they’re all signed by Ally Carter!

Thank you to Maja from the Nocturnal library (one of my favourite book blogging friends) for Suicide Notes. I’ve read some great reviews for this book and also the fact that it’s one of Maja’s favourites makes me more excited to read it.

Nailed by Jennifer Laurens
34 Pieces of You by Carmen Rodrigues

I couldn’t resist 34 Pieces of You, it’s about three teenagers who have to deal with the death of their friend Ellie, she’s left 34 clues behind, so by sorting through the clues, hopefully they can come to terms with her death, but also keep their own secrets under wraps too! The cover and premise gives off such a dark vibe, I think this is the sort of book I need right now!

Over to Rachel to see the lovelies she received.

Well so much for my so-called “requesting ban.” I gave myself a stern talking to, but alas, seeing books on other blogs made my resolve melt into a puddle of mush. *sigh* I guess this isn’t as much as I thought but still, six books.

For Review

Broken by A. E. Rought
by Dante's Girl by Courtney Cole
Love Unscripted Tina Reber

Thank you to Strange Chemistry, Lakehouse Press, Simon and Schuster, and Netgalley.

Bought

Beg for Mercy by Shannon Dermott
The Unfed by Kirsty McKay
The Day Before by Lisa Schroeder

Okay, I must spread some blame around, because really, these are not all my fault. I must blame Suzanne at Paranormal Book Fan for Beg For Mercy. If she hadn’t tempted me with her review for the No Mercy and then topped it off by saying the first in the series, BFM was .99 cents at Amazon, I wouldn’t never bought it! After reading Meg’s review for The Day Before at Vegan YANerds, I was online buying a copy before I could help myself! See, it’s not my fault. I saw Broken on everyone else’s Sunday haul and knowing it was just sitting there, begging to be requested at Netgalley, I gave in. I really do need to enroll in a Bookaholics  Anonymous. The first step is admitting you have a problem, right?

What did you get in your showcase this week? Leave us a link and we'll check it out.

Also sorry guys my comments (Jasprit) on your blogs have been a bit sporadic as of late, things have been crazy with guests, work and packing, I'm finally going on holiday this week to Prague, so I'm planning to catch up with all your lovely blogs when I get back!

Those all look lovely, Jasprit! You got a lot of Ally Carter. I need to read her Heist Society books and yeah, her other books. x) I've seen Broken in so many other blogs and hopefully you like it just as much. :)

Hi Jasprit!
I'm really really sorry I haven't been visiting your blog at all in the past few weeks. College has been keeping me very very busy! :/ Now that I'm settled in I hope I'll get some time to visit you guys! :)

You got great books this week. I also got Broken and I'm pretty excited to be reading it! :) Hope you enjoy all of them!

Happy reading and thank you so much for dropping by my blog during my absence! :)

Yet another awesome book haul this week, ladies! :)

Jasprit, I love Ally Carter's books, simply because they're so much fun to read and are such relaxing, light-hearted, and really get-away-from-real-life reads. The Gallagher Series is awesome, although the first two books are my favorite, but the others are excellent too. You're picking a perfect time to read them as well because the last novel is due out soon, so that's great! I also loved The Heist Society and its sequel, so I'm looking forward to the third novel coming up soon too. Prepare yourself for a lot of swooning ahead, dear, as the guys in those books are swoon-worthy for sure! ;) I also just loveee the friendships in them, so I can't wait to see what you think! I've heard a lot about 34 Pieces of You, but it seemed to be just-another-suicide novel, so I wasn't keen on reading it, but perhaps your review will change my mind! :)

Rachel, I've seen SO much about Dante's Girl recently, so I am very curious to see what you think about it! I've also heard fantastic things about The Day Before but am skeptical about liking the prose...I don't know if those books are ones I'd enjoy, so I'm looking forward to your input on that one too. Beg For Mercy, while being a novel I've never heard of before, has a very tantalizing cover, so I really just can't wait to see what you think of all of these!

Happy Reading, Jasprit and Rachel! :D I hope you enjoy all your wonderful new novels!(:

Looks like you got some great books this week. I really need to pick up some of Ally Carters books.. I read I'd Tell You I Love You, But Than I'd Have To Kill You a few years ago, and I need to read the rest of her books.

Jasprit, I read the Gallagher series a number of years ago and they're really sweet, light- hearted, and utter fun to read! Hope you enjoy. :) 34 Pieces of You looks quite good as well... I look forward to seeing what you think of it. :)

Rachel, I constantly tell myself that I should stop requesting books because my ARC TBR pile is ridiculously high, but I can't seem to restrain the temptation! I totally understand where you're coming from, my dear. :)

Awesome haul, ladies! Happy reading

OHemgee, Jas! Signed Ally Carter books! That's awesome. I hope you'll enjoy them all. I still need to read my copy of Suicide Notes. I hear some good things about it.

And I hear ya, Rachel. I can't resist requesting either. I feel your pain. Lol. I hope you'll enjoy The Day Before, seriously awesome book!

Ohh, congrats on winning Heist Society! I loved that book so much, it was fun, hilarious and different. Can't wait to read your review. <3

Rachel, I also added Beg for Mercy to my tbr after reading Suzanne's review(s), and I think I'll read it soon. Can't wait to compare notes.
Happy reading, my darlings.

I haven't read any of Ally Carter books but they all seem like a fun read. The 34 pieces of you sounds very intriguing too. Hope you enjoy all these books, Jasprit! And have a great and fun trip to Prague (jealous)! Haha!

Rachel, you're not the only one having a hard time controlling my hoarding tendency in Netgalley! Haha! I got Broken too and the cover looks just lovely. Yay for Dante's Girl! I've seen so many good reviews about it so I'm excited to read it too. Have fun with all these books, Rachel! Happy reading. :)

I've had Suicide Notes for awhile now. I think I'm going to try and read it this October.

I was also sent 34 Pieces of You. I'm excited to check it out. It reminds me of The Amanda Project, which I did enjoy (still need to read the second one...)
