Vanilla Queens Dream Books to Movie Giveaway

Hello readers! Jasprit and I thought it might be fun to run a giveaway for our favorite books to movie adaptations.  We are running two separate giveaways starting today.  Our giveaways will be limited to our respective countries, Jasprit's to the UK, and Rachel's to the US due to DVD region limitations.

So it's no shock to anyone that I LOVE romance, and I think one of the greatest romances written is Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë.  I have watched so many movie versions of this tale, and but my favorite is Masterpiece Theatre's version from 2007 with Toby Stephens and Ruth Wilson.  Toby Stephens as Mr. Rochester makes me weak in the knees!  *swoon*!!  As an added bonus I wanted to giveaway a copy of my favorite Jane Eyre re-telling: Jane by April Lindner.  I can't tell you how much I love that story.  It's a modern version with Mr. Rochester cast as a troubled rock-star.  You'll have to wipe the steam off your glasses after reading some of the HOT scenes!  Don't worry though, it's still YA, so not too steamy.   So here are my giveaways that you can enter in through the first rafflecopter below.  The only requirement is that you follow the blog via GFC and reside in the US.   Good luck!  Now I'll switch over to Jasprit for her lovely giveaway.

Masterpiece Theatre: Jane EyreJane

I’m really fussy when it comes to watching films based on books. I’m eager to see how the book will be interpreted on the big screen, but then I’m always a little worried; what if they ruin one of my favourite reads completely. I had my fingers and toes crossed each time I went to watch Harry Potter, and I’m glad to say they pulled each one off amazingly. My sister is the complete opposite to me; she has to read each book before the release and so always seems to be disappointed (she did this with Harry Potter and the Half- Blood Prince) as she will continually compare every part to the book. Whereas for me it will be so long ago that I read the book that I enjoy being surprised by parts that I had long forgotten. Also it’s great seeing characters being brought to life, how similar or different they may be to how you imagined them. Over the 10 years of the books and films being released you begin to form such a close relationship with all the characters and it was tough saying goodbye to such an amazing bunch as I wanted to stretch out my time with them that little bit more.

I think my favourite Harry Potter film would have to be Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. This may have been down to the fact that this was also my favourite book and I felt that the film was done so well, it can be hard to try and include everything or all the major parts from a book, but with this Harry Potter I think all aspects were covered. Also the series tends to get a lot darker after the fifth book, my tissue box became a permanent friend for the sixth and seventh books.

With the Harry Potter series I’m glad that I read all the books before the films were released as I’m one of those individuals who can’t go back to a book once I’ve watched the film. Harry Potter will certainly remain one of my favourite book to movie adaptations, the books and films are ones that I will pick up again and again and never tire of.

Jasprit's giveaway is one Harry Potter DVD of the winner's choice. See below selection.  Just fill out the second rafflecopter below.  The only requirement is that you follow the blog via GFC and reside in the UK

Can you believe I've never read Jane Eyre? I feel like a failure. I should remedy that immediately:) Harry Potter was definitely a brilliant book to movie adaptation, they did such a great job sticking as closely to the books as possible. The Hunger Games was another one I thought rivaled it's book in movie form in terms of awesomeness:)

Jasprit, your favorite HP Book is OotP? YES! ME TOO! :D Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy the movie since it left out so many scenes and I was expecting too much from it, so my favorite of the movies is probably Prisoner of Azkaban or Deathly Hallows Part 1 (because I cry WAY too much when I watch Part 2)! :)

Rachel, I loveee Jane Eyre! Unfortunately, I've never liked any of the film adaptations and haven't been able to watch any of them fully because of it, but the version you picked is my mom's favorite and she's a huge Jane Eyre fan as well! :D

The Princess Bride is my favorite book to movie adaption. I will forever rewatch Westly's and Indigo's sword fighting scene on YouTube.

I haven't read Jane Eyre yet but i am defiantly interesting in reading it story or watching it sometime. Love how the retelling has a rock star in it!
Thanks for the giveaway!!!!!

Harry Potter!!!!!!!!!!!! The first movie and DH Pt2 are my faves! So true, i cried so much reading/watching HB Prince and Deathly Hallows, especially when a certain slytherin died.

I have to admit, I'm not a huge fan of Jane Eyre! The movie is brilliant though. I think the 2007 version is the only one I've seen actually - Toby Stephens was a great Mr Rochester!

Jasprit, I'm so excited that you're giving away a HP DVD! I think the HP book to film adaptations were the ones I fretted over the most, but only because I wanted them to be perfect. :) I think they did a great job with them, especially with the casting! My favourite would have to be Chamber of Secrets or Goblet of Fire. My favourite book was Prisoner of Azkaban! :)

What a lovely, generous giveaway, you two! Unfortunately, I already have all of the HP DVD's and I can't enter the Jane Eyre giveaway because I'm in the UK.

Still, a massive good luck to everyone and thanks again, Jasprit and Rachel! :D xxx

Pet Cemetery I love me some horror :) I really loved the book and thought they did a decent job of retelling it in the movie. Plus there was plenty of humor to even out the tense scenes.

I really do love the Harry Potters AND films. I'm not sure what else would be a favorite. I like being able to read a book and see a movie though and a couple others I've done that with (and enjoyed both) are The Virgin Suicides and A Walk to Remember.

Ooooh, Harry Potter! YAY! I have them all and adore them and would never part with mine. Well I hope some lucky person enjoys the Harry Potter!

Rachel, Jane Eyre is still a book I need to read. I have it now though, so hopefully I will soon.

My favorite book to movie adaption would have to be the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice. The newest Jane Eyre movie was pretty awesome too!
My favorite HP movie/book would have to be the last ones. They were just so action packed and awesome.

Gosh I tried to read Jane Eyre when I was thirteen and couldn't get through it, I thought it was incredibly boring I really need to try it again as an adult. Lovely giveaway darlings.....my favorite book to movie is Gone With the Wind and one movie that was so much better than the book is Practical Magic, skip the book!

I liked the book Jane Eyre but it was never... eternal love, however, the movie edition you have was excellent, Rachel. :) Toby Stephens and Mia Wasikowska were great as Jane and Mr. Rochester.

Jasprit, I'm not the biggest Harry Potter fan but it's really generous of you to offer a Harry Potter dvd, and you too, Rachel. Thanks for sharing ladies!
