Showcase Sunday #17

Showcase Sunday is a weekly meme hosted by Vicky at Books, Biscuits and Tea. The aim is to showcase our newest books or book related swag and to see what everyone else received for review, borrowed from libraries, bought in bookshops and downloaded onto eReaders this week.

Hello lovelies, is everyone ready for Christmas? I can’t believe it’s only a few days away, I can’t wait, I get to spend time with the family and then watch Dr. Who! And also catch up on my reading. I’ve tried to limit my Netgalley/Edelweiss requests, but to be honest it’s been so hard, have you seen the pretties that have gone up lately? But I supposed five e-books in two weeks isn’t too bad, that’s what I keep telling myself!

Geek Girl had some great initial ratings come in and I felt in the mood for a quirky read, so I couldn’t resist. And I requested How to Get over Your Ex after Juhina from Maji bookshelf gave it 5 stars and devoured it in one sitting.

Geek Girl by Holly Smale
Riptide by Lindsey Scheibe
Novody But Us by Kristin Halbrook
Come See About Me by C.K.Kelly Martin
The Boys of Summer C.J. Duggan
How to Get Over your Ex by Nikki Logan
The S-Word by Chelsea Pitcher

Thank you to Harper Collins, Harlequin, Gallery Books and Lesley at My Keeper Shelf.

Jane by April Lindner
Froi of Exiles by Melina Marchetta
The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater
Deadly Hemlock by Kathleen Peacock
Hidden Among Us by Katy Moran
Black Spring by Alison Croggon
OMG! Is This Actually My Life by Rae Earl
The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
Monument 14 by Emmy Laybourne
The Age of Miracles by Karen Thompson Walker
Tempest by Julie Cross

Monument 14 had been a book I’d had my eyes on for some time so was thrilled to learn it was being published here. I fully blame Jenny @ Supernatural Snark and Bonnie @ Sweet Tidbits for my copies of Tempest and Age of Miracles. Jenny had a fab blog tour of Tempest on her blog last week, which made me realise I was missing out on so much and Age of Miracles made it to Bonnie’s top ten reads of the year.

I honestly have the best blogging friends ever! Thank you Hilda from Catch the Lune for my copy of Deadly Hemlock, Nick from Nick's Book Blog for The Gathering Dark and my co-blogger Rachel for an Amazon gift card with which I bought What Happens Next, a book I which had been high on my wishlist. And also for sending me Jane, The Raven Boys and a signed copy of Froi of the Exiles! This will certainly give me the extra encouragement to read Finnikin now. Also for some yummy chocolates, book plates and notes!

What Happens Next by Colleen Clayton
The Gathering Dark by Leigh Bardugo

Over to Rachel to see which books she received.

Oxford Whispers by Marion Croslydon
Picture the Dead by Adele Griffin & Lisa Brown
Through the Ever Night by Veronica Rossi
Opal by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Magic Strikes audiobook (Kate Daniels #3) by Ilona Andrews
Pleasure Bound by Larissa Tone
Every Which Way by Calia Read

Thank you Harper Collins, Edelweiss and Marion Croslydon!

Hello there readers. I didn’t get too many books but I’m excited about what I did get. I’m so excited about Through the Ever Night as I loved Under the Never Sky. I WON a giveaway from Heidi @ Rainy Day Ramblings!! I hardly ever win anything, so this was quite exciting. It’s a print copy and I’m so glad because it has amazing illustrations throughout (see picture). Thank you! You can see I’m continuing on with the Kate Daniels series, and let me tell you, it’s addicting! I’m about 70% through the 3rd audio book and it’s a challenge to not restrict myself to listening to it on my commute! Thanks to Maja and Keertana for the recommend. All I can say is: CURRAN!!!

If you shared a book haul/Showcase Sunday, we'd love to see what you received, so please leave us a link and we'll stop by to check it out.

We hope that everyone has a fabulous Christmas!

Wow, ladies! I'm drooling at your respective hauls. I'm dying to see how you'll make out with Black Spring, Jasprit. And OMG. Signed Froi!!! Love, love.

Wishing you both a Happy Holidays and looking forward to reading more of your book reviews.

AHH, so many good books, where to start?

Jasprit, can I just I am SO jealous that you have a signed copy of Froi? I'm trying to save up money so I can get the Aussie Paperback since I loveee that cover (and yes, I am SO shallow when it comes to book covers!), so I can't wait to own my own copy soon! I also loved The Raven Boys, What Happens Next, and The Gathering Dark, not to mention Tempest is on my TBR List and the S-Word is currently on its way to me, so I can't wait to read those two. Also, I am SO EXCITED for Doctor Who this season! :D Whovians Unite! ;)

Rachel, I simply adore your haul this week as well! I am thrilled you got TtEN because I loved it and I can't wait to see what you think of it as well! Not to mention that Opal is fantastic and Magic Strikes is SO GOOD! Just WAIT till you get to the very end! :D Seriously, if you're not already in love with Curran (which you are, DUH!), he will totally steal your heart in this one. AND THE NEXT BOOK IS THE BEST OF THE WHOLE SERIES! You're in for a real treat, Rachel!

Wonderful haul this week, you two! I can't wait to finally open all my gifts under the Christmas Tree and share that haul next week, so I hope you two have a wonderful holiday season! :)

Yay for getting The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Love that book. I really need to read Hemlock. I keep hearing awesome things.

And I wish I could read e-books, but I don't have an e-reader and I'm not really able to read too much on my computer. Otherwise, I'd totally request The S-Word. It sounds amazing.

Jasprit, my eyes refused to stop staring at your stack of books! Can't wait to hear what you have to share on What Happens Next, Deadly Hemlock and Monument 14.

Rachel, I love how much you're enjoying the Kate Daniels series. Hope you'll love Opal when you read it :)

Have a Merry Christmas!

Yay Jasprit, you (finally) got yourself a gorgeous copy of The Gathering Dark! Much better than the US cover of Shadow & Bone, heh. Also, I'm sorry you didn't enjoy Nobody But Us :( (I saw your two star rating on Goodreads) but I look forward to more of your thoughts on it regardless. Also, the S Word and What Happens Next are both YA contemp books I plan to read soon! Awesome haul and enjoy :)

Rachel, I'm not a huge fan of urban fantasy but seeing as you initally weren't one either, and despite all that are liking the Kate Daniels series is encouraging! I'll definitely give this series a shot at some point. :) Enjoy your goodies dear, and like Jasprit, great haul as always!

Happy holidays, ladies!

Ladies, so many awesome books this week!
Jasprit- The Perks of Being a Wallflower! You hauling it this week makes me want to read the book and watch the movie all over again. And I still need to read Tempest by Julie Cross, it sounds so great! The Boys of Summer also sounds lovely!

Rachel- I'm quite excited to see your review for Every Which Way! It sounds really interesting. AHH. Everytime I see someone haul a Jennifer L. Armentrout book (which is like... every week), it reminds me that I need to pick up one of her books! LIKE YESTERDAY!

Anyway, so many great books ahead of you, hope you guys snuggle up with them! Happy reading and happy holidays, Jasprit and Rachel! :)

Wow, You both got some amazing books there! I know the temptation from Netgalley.. I always request far too many books, so perhaps it's better that some ofo them are declined :p Jane is okay, The raven boys is high on my wish list; the same for Momentum 14. And I recently got Hemlock as well. Can't wait to read it next year as part of a reading challenge. I've heard so many good things about What happens next! And pretty cover from The gathering dark.

I still need to read Under the never sky, but those books look great! And I love the kick ass feeling from the cover from Magic strikes :D

Happy reading girls!

Wow! You have got a great haul ladies!
Jasprit, You have got some brilliant books from NetGalley. Its so hard to say to yourself, to not request any books. But I will always find my hand lingering on the button that says 'Request'. Haha! I have Geek Girl, which looks like such a quirky, easy contemporary novel. I'm really eager to start that! Tempest, I haven't read but the cover is absolutely gorgeous! The Perks of being a Wallflower, I haven't read but I have heard some brilliant reviews about it! I hope you enjoy it! I have seen a lot of people receiving Monument! It looks really good! Brilliant Haul! Enjoy them all!

Rachel, I love your haul. Especially Through the Ever Night and Oxford Whispers. I have not read the Ever Night Series. I have mixed reviews but most of them have been good. I may need to get a copy from my local library. Oxford Whispers, I done a Promo for this books and I absolutely love the cover. As well as it being set in UK, Oxford, its a change from other settings of novels! Enjoy all of your books!

Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! :)

Hahahah YES!!!! Mission accomplished with Tempest;-) Man I love blogging. It's so much fun to buy books on recommendations from other bloggers, and it's equally fun to know someone has bought a book based on yours. I just hope you like it Jasprit! You guys always have the best mailboxes, look at all those pretties. I'm absolutely DYING for Through the Ever Night - looking forward to your thoughts on that one Rachel!

SO MANY AMAZING BOOKS! Yay to signed Froi of the Exiles, Jasprit ;) I haven't actually read Finnikin of the Rocks but I love Melina Marchetta's books so I need to start her fantasy series ASAP ;)

EEEEE Rachel, I hope you enjoy Through the Ever Night! I absolutely loved Under the Never Sky and can't wait for the sequel!

Hope you ladies enjoy your books and Merry Christmas to you, Jasprit and Rachel! ♥

So many lovelies!! I don't even know where to start...

Jasprit, How to Get Over Your Ex sounds like SUCH a cute book! Nobody But Us also sounds pretty deep, and I've seen a few good reviews of it so far. I'll be on the lookout to see what you think of it! The S Word also sounds unique, and I love how simple that cover is. Tempest is pretty mind blowing, and that ending broke my heart! It was fantastically written, even though there were a few things I didn't like. But I do think you'll enjoy it! And I really need to pick up a Melina Marchetta book... it's about time that I do...

Rachel, I am so jealous that you got Through the Ever Night! I am pretty much dying to read that book, and have been ever since I read Under the Never Sky. I'm so glad there's less than 2 weeks until it releases. I don't know if I could wait any more! But I've heard that it's even better than the first, so I can't want to read it. =) I hope you enjoy it! And I've heard only fantastic things about Opal. I have yet to pick up Obsidian, which I really need to do! But it seems to me that everyone loves the series, and that I will as well. ;)

Lovely haul you two! Happy reading! <3

Rach, I am yet to read UtNS but I am hoping it's really, really good so I can catch up to everyone else and then read the sequel. And Every Which Way looks really good, too!
