Our Meet Up

I was beyond stoked when I found out that Rachel would be coming to the UK, Rachel and I are always emailing each other either blog related or just gushing our love for books. So Rachel decided it would be cool to spend a day together when she came to London. I've been to London so many times that I've lost count, but getting on the tubes or train I've always had someone go with me, so making this trip alone was a hugely nerve wracking experience. I'm a tiny little thing as it is so I had to blend in amongst the rushing commuters acting like I knew what I was doing! Thank goodness for Rachel, she was a total star, she knew her way around the train station and tubes, otherwise I would have been a complete lost puppy. Also I'm completely shy when it comes to meeting new people, hence the reason I had never met any bloggers before in my life. But Rachel was the best, we had a great time nattering about books non-stop and ended up having a great blogoversary day out!

On our way to Waterstones (this of course was our top priority) I got distracted by the M & M's store and I knew I had to go in. I was like a little child when I got in, they had four floors of M & M goodies, souvenirs and adorable cuddly toys. The best thing was they had this gorgeous smell of M & M's wafting around everywhere you went and of course before we left we had to get our photo taken with Mr. M & M!

Waterstones Piccadilly is the biggest book store in Europe, I was hoping they would have a massive YA section, it was quite big and Rachel and I were quite surprised by the Aussie books they had, we both kind of got excited when we saw Kirsty Eagar's Raw Blue on the shelves! I think I was in so much awe of their variety of books that I totally forgot to take any photos of their books, but Rachel did so we will try and share some with you at a later point. Rachel and I had a good time discussing which covers were better, the US or UK, I highly favoured the US ones of course. After spending a while eyeing up the books I was quite good as I only walked out with two; Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins and Hold Still by Nina Lacour (my intention was only to leave with one, but when I got to the tills, the books had a buy one get one half off offer, and I knew I couldn't pass!). Rachel was so good as she resisted the temptation to grab at all the pretty covers, I think I need to take some pointers from her.

The rest of the day was spent gossiping about books and munching food. I'm glad that I got the chance to meet Rachel, because I had the best day ever.

Eek, glad you guys had fun! Somehow I've never even heard of the M&M store, let alone been there, so I might have to look it up. ;) And wow, only buying two books? You have very good self control, Jasprit. :D Awesome photos!

Also, you are so lucky to have seen a bookstore with lots of Aussie books! I've been craving to get more of my share of them... and M&Ms.

Glad the two of you had a great time!

Congrats on your blogoversary! that's so exciting that you were able to meet up. I'm sure it's difficult with two bloggers from different continents. Alicia (who blogs with me on Shooting Stars Mag) is across the U.S., but still closer...it was great fun meeting her in person, so I'm sure you two had a blast. :)

I'm so jealous of that M&M store. I want to go!!

I was just wondering about you two meeting up when I hopped over here and saw this post. How bizarre!

I'm glad you enjoyed your day out so much! It's great that you finally got to meet each other in the flesh.

And jealous much, I drove by that Waterstones, but I never got to go in. I looked longingly on from an open top bus tour. Still, glad to hear you resisted in large to buying books.

Great post guys! :)

Aww, it's so clear that you guys have the best time ever during the meet up. <3 It must be so amazing to finally meet each other! I'm still in awe that you guys can manage a blog together by only emailing each other back-and-forth. And so jealous about the Waterstones! <3 The biggest bookstore in Europe? I would love to visit it someday. Big chance that I wouldn't be able to leave that amazing place though haha. ;) So glad that you guys had so much fun together! Plus, the meet up is just in time for the blogoversary!! Must be fate. <3

Ahhh, this is so CUTE! It's so awesome that you two were finally able to meet up, and on your blogoversary at that! I'm so shy when I meet new bloggers, but then I end up making such great friends with all of them when I do meet them and have a chance to talk books. It's seriously so much fun! It looks like you two had a ton of fun at the M&M place and at Waterstones.

I'm glad you two had so much fun!! <3

YOU GUYS. ♥ Your day sounds like so much fun, and how perfect to meet on your blogoversary. I've met Rachel at a few events around LA and she is a TOTAL star. :) I'm so impressed you made the trip by yourself, Jasprit! And two books -- that is still some amazing restraint on your part. Love that Raw Blue is on the shelves over there. Can't wait to see Rachel's pics!

Aw, you guys look lovely! So glad to hear you had a nice time :)
I'm the same as you, actually - I know my way around the tube and train stations more or less but I'm super shy and nervous when I'm meeting people for the very first time.

Are you going to the London Book Fair, by the way? :) A few UK bloggers + Celine + me will be in London in mid-April!

Jasprit said...

Hey Vicky, I don't think I will be able to make it to the London fair :( But I hope you ladies have a wonderful time! :)

Thanks so much for describing your exciting adventure to England to visit Rachel Jasprit!!!! Love the picture with the M&M bunny! So glad you too had a wonderful time together!!!!

Soooo much love for this post--I'm so glad you two met up! And went to an M&Ms store, how funny, hah. It also strikes me as peculiar that Rachel, my fellow SoCal girl without access to good public transportation, was more confident on the tubes than the resident UK resident. ;)

Thanks so much for sharing your momentous meeting with us.

To be fair to Jasprit, I've been to a few spots on vacation where we used the metro/tube A LOT: Washington DC and New York, and then we had just come from Paris where we spent 6 days jetting around all over the place on it. So we had a bit of practice before. :)

"but getting on the tubes or train I've always had someone go with me, so making this trip alone was a hugely nerve wracking experience" - so I'm not the only one who gets like this when I have to get on a train. Happens to me when I go to New York. I get so nervous and really need someone with me or if not, I tend to get lost, haha.

Great pictures, you guys. So cool that you got to meet up!

And yay for buying Sweet Evil. Such a great book! :)
