Showcase Sunday #23

Showcase Sunday is a weekly meme hosted by Vicky at Books, Biscuits and Tea. The aim is to showcase our newest books or book related swag and to see what everyone else received for review, borrowed from libraries, bought in bookshops and downloaded onto eReaders this week.

Hello everyone, I hope you've all had a brilliant week! Rachel is still away on vacation, so today it'll just be me sharing my haul with you. Before I get onto that, I had the chance to meet my co-blogger Rachel this week, we had a lovely time roaming around London, you can read our recap post here.

So now onto my haul for the last two weeks.

The First Last Kiss by Ali Harris
Fire and Thorns by Rae Carson
Dark Places by Gillian Flynn
Hold Still by Nina Lacour
Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins
Deadly Little Secret by Jennifer Echols
Breathless by Brigid Kemmerer
Shadowed by Sarah Alderson
Pieces by Michelle Davidson Argyle

Thank you Kensington, Simon & Schuster, Sarah Alderson and Michelle Argyle.

Once again I had another brilliant haul and only received three review copies! Hold Still and Sweet Evil were books I had on my wish list for sometime, so I decided to treat myself when I was visiting Waterstones Piccadilly. Fire and Thorns was a series I knew I had to start, after reading Keertana's beautiful review, it's a book well out of my comfort zone, but I have a good feeling about it. Gillian Flynn's book Gone Girl completely blew me away, and a lot of reviewers who I trust have been highly praising her novel Dark Places, so I can't wait to see what surprises she has in store for me this time. And I'm sure I'm not the only person who can't get enough of the Merrick brothers, so I was quick to snatch up Breathless. I devoured Shadowed by Sarah Alderson, which I think is meant to be the final book in the Fated series, it was a lot different to what I was expecting, but I enjoyed it nonetheless, my review should be hopefully up soon.

So that's my haul for the last two weeks, I have a few weeks off work coming up soon, which I can't wait for, as all I plan to do is catch up on my reading. If you've posted a book haul for this week, I'd love to see which goodies you received, so feel free to leave a link in the comments and I will stop by soon to check it out.

Such lovely books, Jasprit! I really think you're going to enjoy Sweet Evil. I wasn't really expecting something so good from this book, and I was utterly shocked in the best way possible by it. So I hope you like it as much as I did, Jasprit! <3 I'm also curious to see what you think of Dirty Little Secret, since that one looks SO cute. And same goes for Breathless! I can't get enough of the Merrick brothers either. ;)

Enjoy all your ah-mazing books!!

I just got Sweet Evil too (Jenny's fault!) and I intend to read it very soon. I don't think I've seen that cover for Dark Places, but I know how much you liked Gone Girl (my copy just arrived) so I hope you'll enjoy this to.
Btw, I'm so glad you and Rachel had fun together.

I still haven't read Spark, even though I bought it when it was released. Don't know how I managed that. I loved the first book and the first two novellas, I guess I am waiting for more books so that I won't be left wanting more.
Anyways, great haul this week. Enjoy all your new books.

I love having time off work to do nothing but read. Lucky you! I loved all the nostalgia in The First Last Kiss although it's not a fluffy read at all.

And I definitely need to try out Brigid Kemmerer since I've heard lots of gushing.

Fab haul and I hope you enjoy your time off work. Lucky for some!! :)

The Girl of Fire and Thorns was really good, I thought. (Or, I guess for you guys it's just Fire and Thorns?) Either way, I thought it was a pretty strong debut, and I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on it.

Woohoo, Breathless! And Dirty Little Secret! I got those two a couple of weeks ago, and I can't wait to get started on them (I'm SO backed up in reading. Where is spring break when you need it?!). The Girl of Fire and Thorns is a pretty great book! I have Crown of Embers, but I haven't read that one either! I am so bad at keeping up lol

I hope you enjoy all of your awesomeness!

Ooh I can't wait to hear your thoughts on Shadowed! I liked the last book, though the ending really annoyed me. I hope things are better here. ;) And you will love Fire and Thorns (or at least I hope you will!) It's a great book, and you've just reminded me that I still need to get the sequel. Lovely haul, Jasprit!

I've been meaning to read Rae Carson's books for a while now, but it always seems to be slipping my mind.
Yay for Dirty Little Secret! I got that one too and I'm so excited to read it soon!
It's great that you're going to get a few weeks off of work! Plenty of time for reading!
I'm on spring break right now and I'm loving all the time I'm getting to read. Too bad it's only one week! :(
Anyways, fantastic books, Jasprit. I hope you enjoy them all! :)

That's so fantastic that you and Rachel finally got to meet! :) You two looked like you had a lot of fun.
Dark Places looks fantastic, and I'm also very interested in reading that one. I read Gone Girl and wasn't the hugest fan but I've heard that her others books are even more brilliant so I can't wait to get my hands on them. Happy Reading, Jasprit!

Aaah Sweet Evil! I still have to read that one myself! I also am super curious about Deadly Little Secret. I didn't know it was an adult book before I saw it on EW so we'll see. It would be my first Echols book too and people seem to either love her stuff or hate it which makes me wary. I'll wait until you tell me if it's good! :P

Oh, I've been interested in Gone Girl for sometime. I'm glad to hear that you loved it, Jasprit! <3 Deadly Little Secret has such lovely cover. :) Hope you'll enjoy Breathless, dearie! I'm really curious about Fire and Thorns. The cover doesn't look like something I normally read, so I'm hoping to read your review later to convince me. :)

Happy reading, Jasprit! <3 And Rachel, I hope you're having a wonderful vacation! <3 :)

SWEET EVIL JASPRIT!!!! Oh I really hope you like that one, it just blew me away last year. Kaidan. *dies* And yay for Fire and Thorns! I loved that one too, but I agree it takes a little while to get into. I almost set it aside once I got to the end of part 1 because I just wasn't connecting, but Parts 2 and 3 were fabulous and I'm so glad I stuck with it. I really loved book 2 as well!

I still need to read The First Last Kiss - I got a copy a few months ago but haven't had time to read it yet. :( I've heard great things about it, though, so I hope we both enjoy it!

Both The Girl of Fire and Thorns and Hold Still are amazing novels, so I cannot WAIT to see what you make of them, Jasprit! Plus, isn't the cover for Hold Still just SO pretty? *sighs*
