Hi everyone today as part of the Camp Boyfriend tour by J.K Rock I get to share with you my review for this wonderful book. But first here's a bit about the book.

The summer of her dreams is about to get a reality check. Only trouble is, the popular crowd is wearing on Lauren's nerves and she can't wait to return to summer camp where she's valued for her brain instead of her handsprings. She misses her old friends and most of all, her long time camp-only boyfriend, Seth. This year she intends to upgrade their relationship to year-round status once she's broken up with her new, jock boyfriend, Matt. He doesn't even begin to know the real her, a girl fascinated by the night sky who dreams of discovering new planets and galaxies. But Matt isn't giving her up without a fight. As he makes his case to stay together, Lauren begins to realize his feelings run deeper than she ever would have guessed. What if the guy she thought she was meant to be with forever isn't really The One? Returning to Camp Juniper Point was supposed to ground her uprooted life, but she's more adrift than ever. Everything feels different and soon Lauren's friends are turning on her and both guys question what she really wants. As summer tensions escalate, Lauren wonders if she's changed more than she thought. Will her first big discovery be herself?
Camp Boyfriend was a cute read perfect for the summer. Our
MC Lauren has been going to camp Juniper point for the summer far as long as
she could remember it’s where she met long term crush Seth and so she is just
itching to go back to her friends and Seth once again. This summer is meant to
be Lauren’s last at camp, so she wants to make sure it’s one to remember. But
things have changed dramatically in the last year; Lauren’s changed as a person
both physically and emotionally. Will her friends and Seth (who has become a
summer camp boyfriend only) recognise her anymore? Also Lauren has to break it
gently to her boyfriend Matt that they can’t be together any more. What was
meant to be a simple summer camp to look forward to ends up being one of the
worst.
I read the prequel Camp Kiss before picking up Camp
Boyfriend and I really enjoyed the watching the relationship develop between
Seth and Lauren. Lauren then was an under-confident girl, who didn’t ever think
Seth could end up liking her back. So it was great watching a girl like Lauren
come into her own when she realised the guy she had been pining for, for so
many years actually shared the same feelings back. I thought their relationship
was sweet, and it was cool how they had their own things in common, they were
just liked the perfect fit! So I was immensely looking forward to them
reconciling back in the summer. I just couldn’t wait to see what was to come
for both of them, as it was their final summer together and with them being
only a couple over the summer would they still have the same strong feelings
for each other? So having Lauren’s boyfriend Matt on the scene was totally
unexpected. He was a nice guy don’t get me wrong, but Seth had immediately won
me over with his sweet gestures in Camp Kiss so I didn’t want Matt getting in
the middle of it all.
However with things not going to plan, everything at camp
Juniper point went crazy. I truly felt for some of the characters as Lauren
took forever working out her feelings. I did think that I knew which way things
would eventually end, but the decision in the end really surprised me.
With it being the last camp for a lot the kids, I greatly
appreciated the character growth amongst so many individuals. A lot of the
characters hadn’t left the greatest impression with me in Camp Kiss, but I
liked walls being broken amongst rival groups and characters coming to their
own.
I hugely recommend Camp Boyfriend if you’re looking for a
fun read for the summer, it had the summery feeling of what summers are meant
to be about nailed and its unexpected twists certainly kept me on my toes.

I thought about getting this series, but wasn't sure. Now I'm definitely on board. I think that summer reads don't have to be all 5 stars, but rather light, summer-ish, adorable, romantic and definitely relateable. I'm glad you enjoyd these characters and that it wasn't all predictable. That's always good in my book! I'm looking forward to reading this series myself now:)
I like when my summer reads have more issues in them. You know, something like Katie McGarry and her book but this one seems too light for me. I hope it's funny at least. But it's not for me. I'm glad that you enjoyed it overall. Great review Jasprit :)

This one looks uber cute and the reviews have been somewhat good enough for me to be still pumped up for it. I was actually just on camp so it seems to suit!

I'm not sure this one would be for me because I err on the side of darker, edgier fiction, but it sounds like a sweet read, for sure. Plus, the growth in the characters is almost enough to sway me and change my mind! Fabulous review, as usual, Jasprit :)

Your comments were helpful to readers seeking a fun summer romance with deeper story lines than a straight forward love triangle. It meant a great deal to show that a coming of age story is not just about boys, but about gaining a new perspective of yourself, life, and others and seeing the uselessness of labeling as well as achieving self-acceptance... Phew! Sounds rather sanctimonious for what is a fun summer book.. With heart ...lol... :)
I do like a light and fluffy summer read but I can see getting frustrated with Lauren since it takes her so long to work through her feelings. But it's summer camp -- that can't be all bad, can it? :)
I'm glad that you liked it, Jasprit! I got out of this exactly what I wanted ; a cute summer read. I actually was more attracted to Matt's character than Seth's, but I reckon that might not have been the case had I read the prequel novella.

Wait! I need clarification Jasprit. Is there cheating in this book? And does the Matt situation turn into a dreaded triangle? You said she takes a long time to work her feelings out, so that has me worried that there will be lots of angst as she tries to make a decision. I'm already rooting for Seth too, so I definitely don't want Matt in the picture!
Sweet review Jasprit! I read Camp Kiss too and I enjoyed the friendship turn kiss-virgenless Lauren experienced with Seth. I am definitely excited to see what happens in this longer story now that the characters are more fleshed out.
I love camp stories. I have very fond memories of going and then working at a camp for many years. Romances + camp = win. BUT I already know I'd have trouble with the triangle in this book - having to deal with Matt as well as Lauren's changing relationship with Seth. I don't think this would be a super fun read for me because of that. But I'm glad you enjoyed it overall and thought it was great for the summer.

I've been seeing this book float around a lot ever since BEA, and I've been curious to read it! This one seems like a really light, fun, summery read! I do want to read this one, even though I'm not at all sure it would be for me - it just sounds so summery! I have the prequel, I just need to find the time to read it, and I'm really glad Lauren seems to have come into her own since then. Gorgeous review, Jasprit! :)
I LOVED the prequel which really surprised me! I don't know how I'll feel about Matt coming in and messing up my picture of how it should be like though. I read a chapter sampler and I already have some conclusions. Thanks so much for the great review and awesome giveaway!
I keep hoping Jasprit will come on to address the love triangle issue because I'm dying to hear what she has to say about it!! But I couldn't resist chiming in for just a second to say that I think the heroine struggles HARD to be honorable with both guys at all times. That means tough decisions and and a lot of honesty, but I think she does it. Karen and I had one reviewer say "I loved Lauren, and her two boyfriend issue was something that I hadn't seen explored like it was in Camp Boyfriend" (Tyler Rose at Reading Pile), so I'm hoping that we made this triangle different and believable. Still... we know it's a hot button issue and we're anxious for more feeback on that. We're having some conversations about love triangles on Goodreads and it's been interesting. Thanks so much for considering the book :-).
