Hello everyone, I hope you all had a great break over December! I did manage to get a lot more reading done, but only seemed to have one book which blew me away (I mention it several times in our poll below!) So without further ado here's our recap of December, and do help us by voting for which book we should read this month from our tbr piles in the poll at the end of this post.
Number of Books read:
Jasprit: 12
Rachel: 19
Highest rating:
Jasprit: 5 stars (Graceling by Kristin Cashore)
Rachel: 5 stars
Lowest rating:
Jasprit: DNF
Rachel: DNF
Books reviewed:
Jasprit: Ink is Thicker Than Water by Amy Spalding
These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman & Meagan Spooner
The Promise of Amazing by Robin Constantine
Roomies by Sara Zarr and Tara Altebrando
Rachel: I Hunt Killers by Barry Lyga
Rumor Has it by Jill Shalvis
Best read of last month:
Jasprit: Graceling by Kristin Cashore, I have probably been harping on about this book for the last month now, but seriously all this book has been receiving is all deserved. I'm hoping to read the next two books this month.
Rachel:
I'm going to name one of the two I reviewed on the blog, so out of the two I reviewed I'd have to say I enjoyed Rumor Has It more even though I rated them the same. What can I say, I'm a romance girl.
Book which surprised me the most:
Jasprit: I'm going to have to go with Graceling by Kristin Cashore again, although I did read 14 books last month, to be honest most memorable one is Graceling. First of all its a genre that I normally wouldn't read, so I'm quite surprised by the impression its left with me.
Rachel: I Hunt Killers. It was surprisingly brutal and gave me massive creeps for being a YA read!
Fictional crush of the month:
Jasprit: I'm going with Po from Graceling, he was just the sweetest character ever, he had the most patience in the world and was always looking out for others. I was a little wary of him in the beginning, but after one particular scene, I was a huge fan!
Rachel: Oh, definitely overprotective Griffin from Rumor Has It!
Three books I'm most looking forward to this month:
Jasprit: Breaking Point by Kristen Simmons. I absolutely adored the first book in this series: Article 5, so I can't wait to be back with this fantastic set of characters once again.
Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge. I actually didn't request this book until fairly recently and that's because all of these amazing review started popping up on my feed about how much of a gorgeous read this book is!
Where the Stars Still Shine by Trish Doller. I'm finally picking up my first book by Trish Doller today thanks to the lovely Jess from Jess Hearts Books.
Rachel:
Four Seconds to Lose by K.A. Tucker, Sweet by Erin McCarthy, and The Chocolate Temptation by Laura Florand *sigh*
I went to Leicester Square in London for the Christmas and seriously it looks amazing, they had this cute funfair and I just didn't want to leave. Christmas is definitely one of my favourite holidays, so I thought I'd leave this photo up for you guys who are missing it too :(
And now to the fun bit where we want you guys to take part. Rachel and I have enormous tbr piles, so we've decided that each month we will let you decide what we need to read asap. Last month you picked Blood Red Road by Moira Young for me and Feed by Mira Grant for Rachel. We will have our thoughts up on both of these books soon. We can't wait to see what you guys pick for us this time, the poll will be open until this Friday.

Yay for Graceling, Jasprit! I'm so glad you loved it! Po really is such a sweet love interest and I loved Katsa's unusual personality and growth arc! :) Also, I'm very excited to see your thoughts on Cruel Beauty - I really enjoyed that one.
And Rachel, I hope you enjoy Chocolate Temptation! It isn't nearly as good as The Chocolate Kiss with Dominique Richard, but I really loved it regardless. ;)
Seems like someone has a new favorite, haha. Jasprit is obsessed with Graceling, I see. I hope you enjoy the rest of the books in that series:) I didn't think I wanted to read Cruel Beauty either, but all these reviews are making me ache for this book now. Will definitely give it a try. Also, since our beloved Rachel (as do many others) loves Trish Doller and Where the Stars Still Shine, I can't wait to give it a try and I hope you enjoy, Jasprit:) dat Christmasy photo!!!!! <3 I voted for Sweet Evil because. BECAUSE. Obviously, I voted for that and I know Jenny will too;) Though, I wouldn't mind you reading Jessi Kirby as you know I'm reading it and I kind of want to own that book so why the hell not see what you think of it :) Rachel, Rumor Has It is on my tbr thanks to you and Andrea. It seems like a perfect book, plus that dog on the cover?? Uh-uh. Dog lover alert here! Anyhow, you read A LOT of books in a month, girl! I hope that you enjoy Sweet. I just wrote my review for it this weekend (don't know when it'll be up, probably in February) and I must say that I liked True a little better, though Riley is THE MAN for me. Oh, gosh. He's perfect!!! *swoons* I also voted Sweet Evil for you, but just as with Jasprit, I wouldn't mind seeing what you thought of Jessi Kirby's book. I think that this book would suit you a bit better, perhaps, knowing what a contemporary lover you are, but Sweet Evil has tons of chemistry and a great plot, so yeah. These are my top picks:)
I haven't read any of your books, Rachel, although I know I need to. But Jasprit, I did read Graceling recently as you know and YES YES YES. To all of this. How surprising it was, how it stuck in my mind even after, and Po, a great fictional crush. Ah, I'm in agreement with everything you said.
I have yet to read a Jill Shalvis book but I hear so many great things about them!
Graceling was such a surprise to me too! I wasn't into high fantasy all that much before I read it but I LOVED it! And Po!
I still need to read Graceling and the thing is, I don't always connect with YA fantasy, so I might've been putting it off, but seeing that Jasprit enjoyed it so much gives me hope! :) Also, LOVED I Hunt Killers, such a fantastic book! GAME (the sequel) is just as good, if not better! Great month in books, guys! You did a lot of reading, yay! Good luck with your reading goals in January! :)
Evie @Bookish
wow, you two definitely read a lot of books in December!! I really wish I was able to read as fast as some people I know. I think I'd get through a lot more books if that was the case. haha
Jasprit: that photo is gorgeous! Oh gosh, I want to be there!
Don't you just LOVE Graceling? The whole series is amazing -- I wish she wrote a bit faster but I'll take what I can get. Too bad about the DNF reads this past month but on with January!
PO. Po is such a perfect guy, I was initially scornful before I met him, because let's face it, he's named like a Teletubby. But he won me over so easily with his loveliness.
You ladies have read so much this month! I must go off and read Rachel's IHK review now.
Wendy @ The Midnight Garden
Woo! So happy you loved Rumor Has It, and Griff (!), Rachel. I definitely want to read the other Animal Magnetism books.
You have me very intrigued by your Graceling remarks, Jasprit. I'm happy you found a book that made you so happy.
Yay, you both read some awesome books last month :D Sigh, still so happy that you loved Graceling. <3 Hope you'll both read many amazing books this month as well :)
Love the Christmassey photo you guys included. I loved I Hunt Killers too it was so deliciously twisted! I haven't read Graceling but I am definitely curious after this post. Congrats on a successful month ladies!
