I wouldn't part with any of my books unless I felt that a certain book would do better with someone else. That is, if I planned to never read the book again. Otherwise all of my books deserve to be kept. They're like my materialistic babies! ;)

The first books that came to mind after reading the question was Scott Westerfeld's The Uglies Trilogy.
I would have a hard time parting with most of them, but I wouldn't be able to give away my Bible.
I usually donate about half the books on my shelves every year, but the books I could never part with are the Harry Potter books!
