Monthly Recap: July

Hi all, Jasprit here I can't believe it's August already! Honestly where has the Summer gone? Well my reading plan has gone out of the window, I think I'm like 20 books behind (if you have any book suggestions which you think will help me catch up with my goal then please let me know!). My month I think has been full with sleeping and working :( So this month I'm hoping to change it up, get some reading in, catch up on some tv shows and start watching some new ones (I started The Beauty and the Beast and Arrow!)! I'm also going on holiday at the end of this month, so I need to squeeze in some shopping somewhere :/

Number of Books read:

Song of Summer  Chasing River (Burying Water, #3)  Ask Me Why  The Yellow Rose Beauty Shop (Cadillac, Texas, #3)

After the War (Homefront, #2)  Mortal Danger (Immortal Game, #1)  Black-Eyed Susans

Best read of last month:
Jasprit: Burn by Paula Weston, I couldn't wait to be with this fantastic set of characters once again, I needed questions answering, but also I needed more Rafa! Once again Weston didn't disappoint, so I'm sad to say goodbye to these characters.

Rachel:
It's a tie between Magic Breaks  by Ilona Andrews and Black-Eyed Susans by Julia Heaberlin. They were very different reads, but both very compelling!

Book which surprised me the most:
Jasprit: Before We Were Strangers by Renee Carlino. I was really looking forward to this book, I'm a complete sucker for books which deal with second chances and honestly the relationship in this book was done beautifully, I rarely get the time to read books these days, but this one I nearly finished in one setting, it was that good, My review will be up this week.

Rachel:
Black-Eyed Susans! It's not often that I'm surprised by the final reveal in a mystery, but the author managed to get the drop on me and I loved every minute!

Fictional crush of the month:
Jasprit: Rafa, always Rafa. This guy is the perfect guy ever, he's a cocky guy, but I love that side of him, he's fierce, always willing to stand up for his beliefs and for his friends. But when his soft tender side comes up, gosh he's just perfect!

Rachel: Reyes Farrow from the Charley Davidson series! Oh my, he is the king of smolder and sexy!

Three books I'm most looking forward to this month:

With me hardly getting any reading done I thought it was high time that I tackled some ARCS, and I've heard nothing but great things about Emmy & Oliver and What You Left Behind. The Heart of Betrayal has been popping up on my feed everywhere lately, with such high praise for the sequel, I think it's about time I give this book a go (I swear I must have mentioned this book on my monthly recap post before, but I will definitely try picking it up this month!).

Rachel:

A Wish Upon Jasmine (La Vie en Roses #2)  Friction  Magic Shifts (Kate Daniels, #8)

My favorite romance author, romantic suspense author and UF authors all in one month! I'm in a readers heaven with these new releases!

   Bookish Photo:

Look at this pretty book! I was dying when I saw ARCS for Illuminae around and then when the early reviews started coming in, and everyone seemed to love this book, I was even more eager to get my hands on a copy. I was so happy when I found out that UK publishers Rock The Boat was publishing it over here. I hope I end up loving it too. Also I love taking photos, so I'm hoping to experiment a bit more with my photos, there are so many gorgeous Instagram bookish accounts that I love following. You can see more of my photos on my Instagram account here

Let us know how you did last month. Link us up an we'll come by to check it out!

I've heard such good things about What You Left Behind and Emmy and Oliver - I just don't think they're my thing right now, and I'm soooooo behind on ARC's, so I crashed loads of them and handed them away because I just didn't think I'd read them - Emmy and Oliver included, BUT, hopefully you love it! You've had a pretty good month girls, keep it up! :)

Jasprit, I completely agree that BURN was fantastic and did not disappoint in the least! I also adore Rafa so I always love getting more of him. ;) I hope you're able to do some more reading next month, especially since Emmy & Oliver is one I think you'll really enjoy. I'm also really curious about Verdi's latest so I'm going to be looking forward to your review of it--it'll be the deciding one for me since I trust your opinion completely.

Rachel, I can't wait for you to read Florand's latest! I really enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to read your thoughts on the upcoming Kate Daniels novel. I read the Virginia Kantra novella in the short story collection you recently reviewed and loved it so I need to go through your backlog of romance reads and catch up! ;)

Fantastic post, ladies! I hope August is an even better month for you both than July!

I'm so happy that both Burn and the new Renee Carlino book were a huge success for you, Jasprit. I'll be reading Shimmer and Burn this week and I'm excited!
I think you're going to really enjoy Emmy&Oliver. I can't wait to read What You Left Behind. It sounds fantastic. I hope you get to get some more reading time this week!

I'm so happy Magic Breaks was a 5 stars read for you, Rachel. I'll be reading the last 3 books in the series this month and I'm looking forward to it. I miss the Beast Lord!
I can't wait to hear your thoughts on Magic Shifts.
Happy reading, Rachel! :)

Oh that sucks, Jas. I'm able to read a few romance novels in one week, so if you need to catch up to your Goodreads goal, I say start with those. I know it's difficult sometimes, but sometimes, you just don't have it in you, yanno? Anyway, I hope you'll have a better August at least.

I'm soo looking forward to Friction as well, Rachel! I can't believe she's going to have a new one out. I'm so excited! And hurrah for a spending reading month. :)

I so need to read the Paula Weston series Jasprit. I've only read good things about that series, and now that a good chunk of the books are out I'm ready to binge read. WOO HOO! Enjoy your holiday at the end of the month!

And can't wait to see what you think of Magic Shifts Rachel, I'm reading it now and loving it. Kate and Curran just make me happy:)

Jasprit, don't worry too much about being behind!! I'm WAAY behind on my GR challenge right now, but I'm honestly not fretting. You're doing great, and you still have plenty of time to catch up! My recommendation for you would be to just binge read a series. I'm in the middle of a binge with Something Strange and Deadly and I'm loving the series. I read the first two books in two days, and I just need to buy the last book so I can finish it up, haha. It's definitely an easy way to read more books, especially when you're not feeling motivated.

I totally need to pick up a book by Paula Weston. That series looks fantastic!! All three of your books on your TBR for next month are ones I've heard a TON about. The Kiss of Deceptions sounds soo good, and you're right, so many people have been fangirling over the sequel! Emmy and Oliver looks like such a cute book that will hopefully be a quick read for you. :)

Rachel, you KILLED it this month! Seriously how do you do it?! Share your reading secrets please, haha. I love compelling books, so I'm definitely going to have to pick up Magic Breaks and Black-Eyed Susans. August DOES seem to be a pretty great month in terms of releases, so I hope you're able to enjoy everything. :D

OH, and Jasprit, when that Insta pic showed up on my feed I literally stared at it for a few minutes just thinking "THIS IS SO PRETTY." I can't WAIT to see what other pretty pictures you'll be posting on Instagram. Experimenting with different styles of pictures is probably one of my favorite things about Instagram. :)

I hope you ladies have a fantastic August!! <33

Beautiful photo of Illuminae! That book is AMAZING. I hope you love it! Emmy & Oliver is also a favorite of mine.
I'm glad you all had good reading months! Burn didn't disappoint me either, though Rafa deserved a couple of slaps. :D Still love him, though.
I hope you all have a wonderful August! Can't believe summer is almost over.
