The Readers Den Weekly Wrap Up #3

Hi everyone, with Rachel and I's crazy work schedules, we miss sharing whats going on with us. We used to have a lot of fun with our Showcase Sunday posts, so thought we'd do something regular on the blog, where we share bookish news and life news in general as a weekly recap!

WHAT I READ/REVIEWED

Jasprit

Not the best reading week, the above books ranged from 2-3 stars for me. And although Bared to You seemed like a brilliant start to the series, Reflected in You was all sorts of unnecessary drama, despite this however I may give the third book a go, before deciding to call it a day.

If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram, you would have seen me constantly praising Traitor to the Throne, you can read my five star review above (I hardly give five stars out so easily anymore) and be warned I will be book pushing the heck out of this book onto everyone!

I've been on a Lisa Gardner kick and I LOVED my re-read of The Neighbor!  It can be read as a stand-alone. I highly recommend the audio version. At Close Range was fast, action packed read. Wicked Cowboy Charm was hilarious and full of Southern charm. Feversong was a mixed bag for me. I wished KMM would've stuck with the original plan of making the last three books Dani-centric.

BOOKS RECEIVED

I really do miss my YA contemporary books, I'm hoping the top three review books will get me back into my mojo. And thank you to Nick and Nereyda as usual for more great recommendations, I of course couldn't resist buying Good Boy and Remembering Joy asap!

I enjoyed the prequel to Live Wire: Lit Fuse, full of angst and then than ending was no fair! Can't wait to read Live Wire! Cynthia Eden's romantic suspense is wonderful! I'm listening to Taken (Lost #5) right now and loving it, so I can't wait to read After the Dark, her first in a new series.  Love Carolyn Brown's cowboy stories, and Talk Cowboy to Me seems like a great antagonistic romance! Midnight Target is the last of the Killer Insticts series by Elle Kennedy. I'll be sad to say goodbye!

NEW TO MY TBR

Jasprit
(Click on Book for Goodreads link).

I've not had the greatest run with Kinsella's books recently, but Lauren definitely convinced me to give her newest one a go! And the early reviews for The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and When Dimple Met Rishi have been amazing, that I can't wait to get my hands on these beauties!

Rachel:

I've been contemplating both of these books after seeing rave reviews and finally decided to break down and buy them.  I hope they're good!

WHAT WE'RE WATCHING

Jasprit

Yeah I was planning on watching all the shows this week, but once again life got in the way. But I am starting The Flash this week!

Rachel:

Still on a Doc Martin binge!

EVENTS OF THE WEEK

Jasprit:

I went to circuits class this week and actually felt really good about it afterwards, it was a killer getting up the next morning, but I find the more I go to these classes the easier they become. Eating-wise I was also on top of everything until I decided to treat myself to this amazing Chocolate cheesecake. You have to treat yourself once in a while right?

Rachel:

Finally kicking my cough.  I'm so tired of being sick!  I've been trying to make my step goal every day of the week.  I managed to make my goal Monday-Friday.  Not sure if I'll make my goal over the weekend, though.

How was your week?

I really enjoyed the Gideon Cross series, that was my go to sadly after fifty shades when I was in that faze! Looking forward to fifty shades film though. Haha. Also how did you get the new Paula Stokes, I've been constantly looking when it will release on edelweiss. I really can't wait to read this book when I loved The Girl Against the Universe. Love The Flash so good and I seem to be watching Doc Martin as well. Haha. Great post. Have a great week ladies.

I'm sorry your reading week wasn't all that great, Jasprit. Hopefully, you have some better books lined up for this coming week. I got Changes in Latitude and How It Happened too and I'm really excited to read both, since I adore these authors. And yay for Good Boy. Fingers crossed you like it! :)
I'm currently reading the new Sophie Kinsella, and it's better than some of her last adult books. And also, yes, you definitely need to read When Dimple! It is an adorable and wonderful book and I think you'll love! Your circuit class sounds amazing! I love that ache you get the next morning after a workout. But yes! That cheesecake looks amazing.

Rachel, I've heard mixed things about the KMM series. It sucks that the change in plans for the author ended up backfiring for readers. I'm so excited for Midnight Target, but also a little sad because it's the last book. Would you want to buddy read that one, Rachel?
And I have a feeling you'll like Undecided. That sucks about being sick though. I hope you feel better! Pump in those vitamin Cs!

Happy reading! :)

Yes, let's do a buddy read! And thanks! :)

I thought I was the only one watching Doc Martin! My family has been trying to get me to watch it for years. I'm addicted, lol! :)

I am currently listening to What Light and not sure what I think yet. You both got so many great books and added great ones to your TBR. I loved Undecided and My Not So Perfect Life. That the cheesecake looks good! Have a great week!

Ha it's a shame that I didn't discover this series when I was reading fifty shades, but I don't know how I'm feeling with this series, I've started book 3 and it is a bit of a struggle! And Paula Stokes new book is on Edelweiss Emma!

At Close Range looks like a good read and I like the look of changes in Latitude also. Flash is pretty good once I got into it, and I do like Doc MArtin once in a while.

I like weekly recaps!

Rachel: I really hope you feel better. I know OF Doc Martin, but never seen the show. Glad you are loving it.

Jasprit: I really really want to read When Dimple Met Rishi. Yay for starting The Flash. It's a favorite show of mine and Grant Gustin is amazing. I need to get caught up on the third season - I have them taped - because Tom Felton is on it this year and he's great.

Rachel, I'm so sorry you've been sick! Hopefully you're on the mend. Jasprit, hopefully you can get to ALL the shows soon! :D

I hope it doesn't seem like I'm glossing over most of the post but I'm just so excited because OMG RACHEL YOU GOT UNDECIDED!!!!! I was one of the first people to read the book and I really really really really recommend it. My favorite NA book to date! <3

Happy reading, ladies! Have a wonderful week. =)

Thanks, Alyssa! I'm feeling better, thank goodness! I can't wait to pick Undecided! I'm really excited about it, but I think I'll have to wait until this next weekend. We'll see. :)

@Jasprit I’ve started Silvia Day’s series ages ago. I think I’ve read book one and two? I agree with you about drama, lately I find myself enjoying books without angst more, so I’m not sure I would finish it. You were very convincing about Traitor to the Throne. I didn’t know about Paula Stokes’s new release. Looking forward to your thoughts about This Is How It Happened

@Rachel I’m sorry to hear you’re still coughing. Sending positive vibes your way.

I’ve already commented on your review of Feversong on GR. I’m surprised that the author chose this particularly POV instead of Dani. In truth I somewhat lost my interest since they change narrators, I just can’t imagine characters sound differently.

I flinch every time I see this new cover for Undecided, I don’t like it so much. I hope you would enjoy this story. I haven’t heard about Win Some, Lose Some by Shay Savage before, I’ll check it out. Thanks for putting it on my radar.

That cheesecake made me drool. I see lots of good books up there. I still haven't started the KMM. I am not enthusiastic about new narrators again. Sigh. I wish that she would have kept it Dani's story as well. Happy week!

Jasprit, I am so glad that Traitor to the Throne has your seal of approval! I am really looking forward to finding some time to dive into it. I also can't wait to see what you think of When Dimple Met Rishi because it sounds like it has so much potential and I want it to be good! I'm so impressed by your workout routine, though! And that chocolate cheesecake was worth the calories, I'm sure--I want to eat it through the screen!

Rachel, I've been coughing this week too! :( Being sick sucks so I hope you feel better really soon! I'm curious about your full thoughts on Feversong! I'm not up to date on the series and I'm not sure if I should keep continuing with it. I'm excited for you to read Undecided, though! I really enjoyed it and I think you will too! :)

I hope you ladies have a wonderful week ahead!!

I have yet to read anything by Sylvia Day but her Crossfire novels are the ones that intrigue me the most. Might have to add these to my list... and I hope the third one goes well!

After I found out Feversong would be the last, I saved Feverborn so I could just finish it all out. Still waiting for my hold to come in at the library but I'm nervous. I also wish she would have stuck with her original plan.

Ugh, I'm sorry you read such awful books Jasprit :\ That's the worst. All the hugs. I hope the books you are reading now are better :) And I hope you both are doing great :D As always, amazing wrap up. <3 Hugs.
