Waiting on Wednesday #16

Is a meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, which spotlights upcoming releases were eagerly anticipating.

The book I'm most excited about this week is...

Dark Triumph (His Fair Assassin, #2)

Dark Triumph (His Fair Assassin #2)
by Robin LaFevers
Publication date: April 2nd 2013
Publisher: Houghton Mifflin Books for Children

Sybella arrives at the convent’s doorstep half mad with grief and despair. Those that serve Death are only too happy to offer her refuge—but at a price. Naturally skilled in both the arts of death and seduction, the convent views Sybella as one of their most dangerous weapons.

But those assassin’s skills are little comfort when the convent returns her to a life that nearly drove her mad. Her father’s rage and brutality are terrifying, and her brother’s love is equally monstrous. And while Sybella is a weapon of justice wrought by the god of Death himself, He must give her a reason to live. When she discovers an unexpected ally imprisoned in the dungeons, will a daughter of Death find something other than vengeance to live for?

This heart-pounding sequel to Grave Mercy serves betrayal, treachery, and danger in equal measure, bringing readers back to fifteenth century Brittany and will keep them on the edge of their seats.

I read Grave Mercy earlier this year and loved it.  It was just the right mix of fantasy, adventure, and romance to keep me anxiously turning the pages.  I was happy with the way Ismae's story turned out, but afraid for her sister-assassin, Sybella.  She was troubled to begin with, and the assignment Sybella may or may not have been sent out on was a disturbing one, if true.  Her situation was not resolved or elaborated on, so I was excited to hear we would be getting a story for her in the second installment, Dark Triumph.

I can’t wait to dive into this wonderful world again so I’m dying to get my hands on a copy!  Grave Mercy felt like a cross between Graceling and Poison Study, so I’m sure any fan of either story would love this series as well.

So what are you waiting for this week?  Link us up, we’d love to know!

I liked Grave Mercy, but probably not enough to really want to pick up the sequel. If it lands my way, however, I will definitely give it a go. I need to see what everyone thinks of it first! :)

Oooh, I think I saw this one around on another blog and like I said before I adore the cover but I haven't read Grave Mercy.

However, I've read Graceling and I'm currently reading Poison Study, so Grave Mercy might be the next step if it feels like a combination of the two.

Great pick, Rachel! :)

I still need to read Grave Mercy but it's nominated for The Cybils so I bet I'll have to read it in the next few months. I like covers, the blurb, and I am still excited because of how many of my favorite people liked the first one, even if a few people didn't. I want to like it, like, a ton.

I loved Grave Mercy and Ismae and Duval but I'm not sure if I'll be picking this one up or not. I think I'll wait and see some reviews first. I don't really enjoy it when further instalments change characters.
