Hello lovely readers! As you may know I'm a HUGE fan of Melina Marchetta, so when we were offered to be part of the blog tour for the release of Quintana of Charyn, I immediately signed on! This tour is hosted by the wonderful ladies over at 132 Minutes. As part of the tour we are posting an excerpt of Quintana, and not just one but TWO GIVEAWAYS! One is hosted by this blog and the other by the generous 132 Minutes! Be sure to fill in both rafflecopters below. Be sure to visit the other blogs on this tour as they will feature fun things and giveaways of their own. For a list of all the blogs participating you can click here.
Release Date: March 12, 2013 | Pages: 528 | Publisher: Candlewick Pre-order: Amazon - Barnes & Noble - Book Depository
Without further ado, I give you the excerpt:
‘The moment I give the signal, you
get on the horse and you ride and you don’t stop riding,’ Froi said, walking
behind Beast, who would shield him from the eyes of the riders. He removed his
own cloak and cap.
‘What are you planning, Froi?’ Lirah
demanded to know.
‘Give me your robe, Gargarin,’ he said
again. ‘You want me to make decisions, then trust me.’
‘Why would I trade one misery for another?’
Gargarin demanded, but Froi heard sorrow in his voice.
‘Because the misery standing behind this
horse has a better chance of surviving than Arjuro.’
‘No,’Lirah said. ‘No!’
‘These are the options,’ Froi said.
‘Gargarin walks to his death. Arjuro is torn to pieces by four hundred flying
arrows. Or else we all live and later speak about looking on the side of
wonder!’
Still Gargarin refused to move.
‘Don’t you trust me?’ Froi asked.
Oh wow! It seems like we're going to have a lot of action and characters faced with tough choices. I can't wait to pick this up!

I haven't read Melina Marchetta but I hope to change that soon.
:) Thanks for the giveway.
I have YET to read anything by this author, which is awful, I know. This one does sound like it will be full of action, and I really like the cover. Stands out!
-Lauren
I've read the other two Lumatere books and loved them! I think Froi was actually my favorite of the two, so I'm really looking forward to Quintana!
I loved this book, Rachel! It was amazing and this excerpt just brings back all the flood of emotions that this chapter held. Marchetta keeps outdoing herself every time!
Hmm...favorite Marchetta novel? Saving Francesca, but favorite Lumatere book...I think Froi. Finnikin used to be my favorite, but I think if I re-read Froi, I'd love it the best. Quintana is amazing too, but I think it serves best as a conclusion and I liked the other two a liiiitle more.

I've read Finnikin, Froi and Jellicoe. I honestly can't decide which I like best, even though fantasy/contemporary are so different! They are all so wonderful. I'm really anxious to read Quintana after that ending in Froi!

I normally just borrow books from the library but if it's by Melina Marchetta I know it's a must have book & it automatically goes on my wishlist. My favorite is Finnikin of the Rock! It's so wonderfully written and I love all the characters. Thanks so much for this giveaway! :)
My favorite MM book would have to be Finnikin of the Rock. It's the first fantasy book that I read that broke my heart in little pieces then put it back together again. MM was born to write high fantasy!
Thanks for the awesome giveaway ladies!
