Showcase Sunday #12

Showcase Sunday is a weekly meme hosted by Vicky at Books, Biscuits and Tea. The aim is to showcase our newest books or book related swag and to see what everyone else received for review, borrowed from libraries, bought in bookshops and downloaded onto eReaders this week.

Burn for Burn by Jenny Han & Siobhan Vivian
Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys
The Diviners by Libba Bray
House at the End of the Street by Lily Blake

Thank you Atom Books.

Only four books in my showcase this week, but books I’m super excited about. Jenny Han is one of my all the time favourite authors, so I was thrilled to get a copy of her latest book with Siobhan Vivian. I’ve heard mixed reviews so far, some unsure about the paranormal element and the ending. So I’m hoping this book will work out for me.

The Diviners and House at the End of the Street will make my creepy reads for October. Both are quite different to the types of books I normally read. But as of late I found myself having success with books falling typically out of my favourite genres. The 600 pages of the Diviners and the trailer for House at the end of the Street I’m going to try and not focus on too much when picking these up.

Ruta Sepetys is another author I’ve heard non-stop praising reviews about and just having a quick look over the reviews on Goodreads (she has 6173 five star ratings for this book alone) so I knew it was one I couldn’t miss out on.

Over to Rachel to see the goodies she received.

For review:

Falling by Jolene Perry
Reaping Me Softy by Kate Evangelista
Grace Grows by Shelle Sumners
Blood Prophecy by Alyxandra Harvey
One Winter's Night by Brenda Jackson

Winter Longing by Tricia Mills
What Happens Next by Colleen Clayton
Bloodfever by Karen Marie Moning

Thank you to Omnific Publishing, Jolene Perry, St. Martin Griffin Poppy (Little Brown Book for Young Readers), Walker Children’s, Harlequin and Netgalley.

Faefever by Karen Marie Moning
Jenny Pox by JL Bryan

Well I got more than I counted on these last two weeks. I’m currently reading Falling by Jolene Perry, and really enjoying it. It falls into the “New Adult” genre that I’ve had great success with lately. I requested Blood Prophecy book six in the Drake Chronicles, a seriously fun and witty series! I think I’m two books behind, but this doesn’t release until January, so I have some time. I ordered some audio CD’s of the urban fantasy series, Fever; I started last month because I wanted to make use of the 45minutes-1 hour drive I make in my commute each day back and forth to work. It’s the only way to increase my reading time without cutting into my sleep anymore than I already do!  These aren’t review books so I’m listening/reading them purely for pleasure.

We can't wait to dive into our pile of lovelies, we'd love to know which goodies you received too, leave us a link and we'll stop by and check it out.

I tried listening to audiobooks for awhile, since I have an hour long commute to school but I just couldn't concentrate. Every time I had to go over a bridge or something I was so concentrated on driving I totally missed what was happening in the story, haha!

Jasprit, I'm reading The Diviners within the next couple weeks (along with Dairy Queen, yay!) so I look forward to seeing what you think of it. :) Between Shades of Grey has been slowly collecting dust on my bookshelf and I feel so guilty for not reading it as of yet, since I've seen so many glowing reviews! Wonderful haul and enjoy your goodies, darling. :)

Rachel, you're continuing with the Fever series, awesome! I hope you enjoy listening to Faefever! What Happens Next and Reaping Me Softly both sound phenomenal. I can't wait for your thoughts! Happy reading. :)

The Diviners! There are so many glowing reviews out there that I'm interested to pick it up too. The thick pages kind of intimidate me though haha. Burn for Burn sounds very interesting too! I hope you'll enjoy the paranormal aspect in the story, Jasprit! Everyone seems to love Between Shades of Gray, hope you're going to be one of the fangirls! :D

Rachel, you lucky girl! So many beautiful books in your shelf! Reaping Me Softly has a very beautiful cover. Hope the story is just as awesome! Jolene Perry is an excellent writer, I'm going to wait for your review of Falling. And reading in your way to work sounds like a fabulous idea to spend time. :)

Happy reading, girls, and enjoy your new haul! ♥

I've seen your status updates on Goodreads for Falling, Rachel, and you definitely have me curious! It sounds like a great read. :) Jasprit, be warned, The Diviners is creepier than it sounds. ;) Don't be put off by the 600 pages. It's actually a surprisingly quick read. :)

I hope you both enjoy your new books! :)

Wow! you got some great books ladies. Jasprit, The Diviner's looks really good, I can't wait to read this book! I hope the 600 pages doesn't put you off. Reminds me of a Harry Potter book! LOL! :) House at the End of the Street, I'm very intrigued as to what you would think of this book... I'm not one horror films... not sure about the book. I know what you mean when you read something different from other genres. Great haul. :)

Reaping me softly is a beautiful cover, it looks really good, Rachel. Blood Prophecy looks really good, I've seen that around many SS's today! I hope you enjoy it. What is it like reading audio-books? Personally, I never really got the same impression from a book... But the books you have got look really good though! :) Great haul, Rachel.

Here's My SS if you would like to check it out! :)

P.S I love your new design! :)

Wow, fabulous hauls, ladies! I'm really excited to see what you think of The Diviners Jasprit, I've seen some great reviews and I really enjoyed her other series. Rachel, you're so lucky you have Blood Prophecy! I really like that series, though I think I need to re-read it since it's been so long since the last one. I'm afraid audiobooks will never do it for me. Enjoy your hauls! :)

I've seen the Diviners around a lot the last few weeks but for some reason, I'm just not feeling it. I'll be interested to see what you think of it Jaspirit. Rachel, I'm really interested in Reaping me Softly and What Happens Next. I have Blood Prophecy too, but like you, wont be getting to it for a while. Happy reading guys :)

Just to let you know, I'm still not receiving emails from your blog, not sure if there's anything you can do about it, but just to make you aware :)

Thanks for letting us know Suzanne, I think it's because of Feeburner, we've installed Feedcat which should replace the email thing, let me know if you have any luck otherwise I'll sort something else out :)
