Cover Fever #13 Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta

Jasprit and I are back with another Cover Fever.  Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta is one of my all-time favorite books and I know Jasprit loved it as well.  There are several different covers, but I only picked four to display.  Down below Jasprit and I will pick our favorites but let us know in the comments which you prefer!

US Hardcover                                        AU paperback

Swedish edition                                Norwegian edition

Jasprit:
Since I read this book, I've known it for its vibrant coloured US hardcover, it stands out and I love having it on my shelves. The three other covers give off a more somber tone and I know the book does have aspects of that, but its not what I remember this book for, so that's one of the reasons that I prefer the US edition. Also the Norwegian and Swedish covers tend to come across as a bit dull and boring.

Jasprit's Verdict: The US cover for sure!

Rachel:

I have a copy of the US Hardcover on my shelf and I've always loved the look with the vibrant orange poppy that ties right into the story.  I've never really liked the AU Paperback cover but it does tie in with the story the best. Maybe it's the coloring. I wish it wasn't so yellow. I do like the Swedish cover, the tree looks a little sparse to be the one from the story, though. The Norwegian cover is just okay to me.

Rachel's Final Verdict:
The US Hardcover.

Which of these covers would you like to have on your shelves?

I own the yellow one and I love it to pieces (well, I did buy the poppies one too, I just preferred this one better).

But it's the old AU paperback cover (not UK, though it might have been sold there too), and it's not being printed anymore (or it wasn't when I started looking for it).

This is one of my favorite books. <3 I recently read it again, and omg, Jasprit, I do not agree with you. This book is mostly just somber all the time, lol :) So heartbreaking. And so good. Anyway. I actually really love the Norwegian edition. It is goooorgeous. But I love my tiny US hardcover the most, I think. <3 Probably. Thank you guys so much for sharing :D

I agree with this; it is the AU paperback cover. As I have not been able to find it ANYWHERE. If it had been UK edition, I would have been able to buy it online :) But no :\ Sad face.

I love the US Cover. Not to be patriotic or anything, but I like the covers... :)

Hmmm. I feel like the outsider on this one, I'm really partial to the Norwegian cover! I think part of it could be that I haven't read the story, so the significance of the imagery doesn't resonate with me as much. I'm always drawn to darker covers with pops of bright color though, I can't help it!

I really like that you featured the Swedish and Norwegian covers as I'd never seen them before. I have to agree, though, that the US cover is my favorite for this title too, though. :)

I like the US and the Norwegian cover, I still can't believe I haven't read this book.

I accidentally labeled the yellow cover "UK Paperback" I meant it to say AU Paperback. Thanks for the catch. :)

I have the US and the Aus covers. I want to say Swedish and Norwegian just because I want them all. But. That's just the Marchetta addict in me talking. Lol.

I also have the US one and yes it's really nice, even though I love AU one too. But yeah somehow the US one fits the story best. Great post, ladies :)

I really like the US cover, just because it's so different and really stands out in a crowd. I like the Norwegian one, too, because of the colors.

I have the Indonesian edition of Saving Francesca and gah it's so hideous I even cover the book with a wrapping paper haha. I haven't seen Jellicoe Rad published here but I hope when they do, they'd give it much better cover! Anyways, the US cover is beautiful indeed. Vibrant orange and pretty poppy! The Swedish cover is so cool. It gives a darker feeling to the book, but it's gorgeous nonetheless. :)

Thanks for sharing, Jasprit and Rachel! :)

I had a very -but VERY- hard time finding an old AU copy too and it looks wonderful in reality (softer colours, crisper graphics). I feel like it fits the story (the overall emotions) better, but that's just me. I actually danced all around of happiness when I got it; it was the best gift ever :))

I like that US cover, but the Australian and Norwegian editions are gorgeous! Thanks for a fun post, ladies!

I think my favorite is the AU paperback. But it was really hard picking a favorite, they're all gorgeous! :)

US cover! I do like how the AU one looks too but I'm not a fan of that font choice. Love these cover fever posts! Thanks for sharing :)

I love when you guys do these posts! I'll agree that the US cover wins it for me. I think the coloring and mood is right for the story. But I do think that Swedish cover is pretty.
