Jasprit and I are back with Cover Fever and this week I thought I'd feature If I Stay. I loved this series even if it did make me cry in parts and it's been made into a movie. I'm always nervous when this happens, especially when I love the book so much because I don't want to be disappointed. Wasn't sure about the character choice of Jaime Blackley for Adam until I watched the movie trailer. Wow! Anyhow, let's look at the cover choices:
US Hard Cover UK Cover
US Paperback Indonesian
Jasprit:
I am so excited about this film being made into a movie and although the first book wasn't my favourite, I remember it was one of the first books I picked up based on a recommendation from Goodreads, anyway I digress. I have see so many different editions to this book, especially over here, that I'm not even sure which is my favourite. I'm usually a fan of covers with models on the front, but I'm not really feeling the UK or US paperback editions. I do like the simple design of the US hard cover, its simple, but not that memorable. I am however hugely fond of the Indonesian cover, its pretty, it reminds me of the Winter months and something I could curl up with when its cold.

Jasprit's Final Verdict:
Indonesian cover.
Rachel:
I HAD the US Hardcover until I lent it to a friend and haven't seen it since. It's a signed copy *sobs* but I've never been all that fond of the cover. The US Paperback seems more appropriate for the story but I'm not sure I like her face taking up half of the space. Something about it just doesn't click with me. The Indonesian cover has sort of grown on me. The winter setting and empty bench agree with the feelings of melancholy you feel throughout the story.

Tie between the US Paperback and the Indonesian cover.
Which book cover would you like to have on your shelves?

I am still to read this series. I am currently reading Just One Year. I think I like the US Hardcover the most. I think the US paperback and UK cover kind of relate to the story (as far as I know what the book is about).
I do love the Indonesian one because it's so different but I also like the US paperback (I don't know, it just appeals). And boo to friends who don't return books!! Especially signed ones!!
I have to agree that the US Paperback isn't all that great, but I don't mind it. The Indonesian cover is definitely gorgeous, though, and I am SO EXCITED for this film! It looks fantastic. :)
I have and like the UK (green cover). Like you I'm very much looking forward to the movie!
I'm with you, Jasprit. I definitely prefer the simplicity of the US hardcover. Although I do like the Indonesian paperback and the US paperback as well.
I definitely don't like the UK cover though.
To be honest, none of the covers are eye-catching enough for me to consider buying (IF I had no prior knowledge of what the book is about) Like you Jasprit, I think the US Hardcover is simple but not memorable, but like Rachel, Im' not hugely fond of it :( I don't mind the UK cover but it feels too paranormal-like for me...but I guess the Indonesian cover isn't too bad?
Anyway, I'm pretty excited for the film! The trailer gave me goosebumps (in a good way!) so I hope the movie will be awesome<3
The US hardcover reminds me too much of The Sky is Everywhere, which is why I'll say I like the UK cover best for this one. Although the Indonesian is kind of pretty too.
The US cover. It doesn't depicts the story, I agree but it somewhat draws the readers in. I also can't wait for the movie. Chloe Moretz!! The UK cover reminds me a horror movie poster.

I like the US harcover because it's so different from other covers, but it doesn't really appeal to me. The US paperback is my favorite, though I can't really put my finger on why that is so. maybe because the girl, and the way she gazes upward, really reminds me of Mia and the book. I think it's pretty fitting.
Great post, ladies! <33
I don't mind models on books as long as it's done well. The US paperback has a bit too much model, so I prefer the UK cover. I also really like the Indonesian cover. It's simple, yet perfect.
I fell in love with the US hardcover the moment I first saw it. I find both the UK and US paperback to be very generic and unmemorable. This is my first time seeing the Indonesian cover and I'm liking it.

*cracks knuckles* I totally love this feature since I'm seriously nitpicky when it comes to covers, haha!
US Hardcover: It's pretty, and I love how the 'Stay' and 'Forman' are connected to the branch. Now, I don't like the fading blue in the background, since in the bottom it's a bit too light already and making the author's name harder to see. I like the color contrast given by the flower, but it looks too real compared to the fake-looking branch, haha!
UK: It actually looks like a cover for a horror novel, haha! Or maybe a Twilight spoof. (Don't get me wrong, I like Twilight.)
US Paperback: I love the model and the positioning. I like the fonts, except for the color of the 'NYT bestselling author Gayle Forman'. Maybe it could've been white to match the other text.
Indonesian: I feel weird for saying I really don't like this, considering both of you chose this (and the US paperback for Rachel). The title is way too high up and the bench is too low. It just looks kind of tacky for me, haha!
I'd say my favorite is the US paperback. ;) Woo! I just brought out the nitpicker in me.
Among these covers, I definitely like the US Hard cover more. I don't know, I like it simple and pretty, and it somehow gives me a bit of a yearning feeling when I look like it - like hope, for instance. Am I making sense? The indonesian cover looks really good, too. It has that homey feel and is cool to the eyes. As for the other two, I'm not really that fond of covers with faces and human models. They just feel weird to me, like they're out of place Haha.
Great pick girls, can't wait for the next cover fever!

I don't mind any of these versions, but I have to admit that this is one of those rare cases where I actually do like the US versions more than the overseas ones! But original hardback over paperback for sure, I'm glad I have that one. I'm so excited for the film, too, but nervous at the same time. I'm always nervous about these things.
I'm SO sorry for being so MIA lately, too. Life and blog have both been crazy, and even after all the stuff I reported last week, there's been even more things added on top of that, so I feel like I don't know whether I'm coming or going! Hopefully things settle back soon, though. I'm glad to see you ladies are your usual lovely selves over here in your corner of the blogosphere. :)

Gasp! I have a signed copy too and would be so sad to lose it! And that's why I very, very rarely lend books. I like the Indonesian cover too.
I don't know..I love the UK cover. I usually don't covers like that but somehow it works. I like the Indonesian cover as well!
I don't love any of them, but I think both US versions are ok.
Rach, I hope you no longer lend that friends books! >:|

Yes I agree the Indonesian cover looks best! But the US hardcover would come a close second. I don't like how the US paperback one has her face on it.
Great post! <33
Ohh. Gorgeous covers :D I like these different covers. But my favorite is the Indonesian one. It is simply beautiful. Sigh. Thought they all are :) But yeah. That one is my favorite, hih. Thank you so much for sharing :D
This is so tough! haha! But I would probably go with the US paperback, because it just looks different and sad as well.. hmm. haha. The Indonesian is still a beautiful cover as well! Great post!

I'm not overly fond of any of these because none of them seem memorable to me, but I like how the US HC is simplistic and US PB is a little eery, but the Indonesian one is pretty, I agree a very nice wintery setting :)
