Monthly Recap: April

Hi all, I hope you all had a wonderful April! I finally managed to get some reading done, however nothing totally wowed me, but I enjoyed binge reading Pretty Little Liars. However how many amazing releases were there in April? I sure have some brilliant books to look forward to. Also I get to meet Laini Taylor today!!

Okay so without further ado here's our recap for April!

The Secrets of Lily Graves Maybe Someday  The Temptations of Anna Jacobs (Dangerous Liaisons, #2)  Red Hill

Wildflower Wedding (Cricket Creek #6)   Speak No Evil (No Evil Trilogy, #1)

Best read of last month:
Jasprit: The Last Best Kiss by Claire LaZebnik. This book was super cute and exactly what I needed, I haven't read Austen's Persuasion, but this book has persuaded me (see what I did there?) to give it a go. Not that I need any persuading when it comes to reading Austen's books. Also to try other re-tellings such as For Darkness Shows the Stars.

Rachel:
It's a tie between Red Hill and Speak No Evil. Both were suspenseful reads and not my usual contemporary romance, but I liked switching things up a bit!

Book which surprised me the most:
Jasprit: Pro's and Cons by Janet Evanovich. This series was first bought to my attention thanks to Mary @ Book Swarm, I needed something which featured a great mystery and a dash of romance, and this novella was perfect in leaving me wanting me more. I immediately reserved the first book in this series, I can't wait to get more of agent Kate and con artist Nicholas!

Rachel:
Red Hill by Jaimie McGuire was such a departure from Beautiful Disaster and a compelling story. It was about the "zombie apocalypse" but is was so much more than that. A study in the human reaction to extreme situations. I was also surprised but in a bad way by Mud Vein by Tarryn Fisher. I'll probably post my review on the blog later in the month, but wow, what a complete and utter disappointment for a book I've been dying to read for quite some time.

Fictional crush of the month:
Jasprit: Sean from Pretty Little Liars. This series has been my guilty pleasure this month, it seems to be the only thing working for me, and honestly Sean was such a sweetheart in this book.

Rachel:
Oooh, Nick from Speak No Evil! I have a weakness for men in uniform! Add a cowboy hat and boots and I'm totally gone! He was so caring, protective, and supportive. So very sexy!

Three books I'm most looking forward to this month:

Jasprit:

(Click on titles for Goodreads link)

There has been so much love for Love Letters to the Dead this past month, that I can't wait to get my hands on this beautiful book today. Let's Get Lost sounds like the perfect book for the Summer, it features a road trip, adventures and fun amongst five strangers! And Sarah Alderson needs no introductions, once my schedule clears a bit, I will be diving right into this book!

Rachel:
(Click on titles for Goodreads link)
The Immortal Crown (Age of X, #2)  Grim Shadows (Roaring Twenties, #2)  Sun-Kissed (Amour et Chocolat, #7; Snow Queen, #2)

I'm looking forward Richelle Mead's sequel to Gameboard of the Gods: The Immortal Crown.  I loved Bitter Spirits by Jenn Bennett! It was a sassy romance set in the Roaring Twenties. I can't wait to meet Winter's brother, Lowe in Grim Shadows. He sounds like a scoundrel if there ever was one! It's no secret that I'm a huge fan of Laura Florand's gorgeous writing and steamy romances, so I'm really looking forward to Sun-Kissed!  And would you look at that cover? Just love it and the shoes! I need those shoes!

I was quoted for the first time, in The Assassin's Blade by Sarah J. Maas! Thank you to Jess for the heads up about this!

There's no poll for this month, as Rachel and I have so many books to catch up on, but we'll be back with one for you next month. Happy reading!

Jasprit you absolutely must read Persuasion -- it's fantastic! And Let's Get Lost looks sooo cute, so I'm really looking forward to hearing what you think of it. Rachel, I'll have to get my hands on Speak No Evil soon! I'm also thoroughly looking forward to Florand's latest and cannot wait to read Grim Shadows! I just love Jenn Bennett! Well done for being quoted, that must be an amazing feeling! You should be proud, and I'm impressed by how many books you've read and reviewed this month girls, and I especially liked the Red Hill review, it really but the book on my radar, so if I see it, I might get it. I've heard good things about Love Letters to the Dead too, so I hope you enjoy that too hunny! :)

I couldn't get into the PLL books, I'm cool with drama and such on TV, but I have a low tolerance for it books, aha. PLL the tv show, is like my guilty pleasure - at first it was good, but now they're dragging it on, but for some reason I can't stop watching. xD

YES! You must read Persuasion (and FDStS), it was my first Austen book since then I tried P&P but DNF'd it because I wasn't seeing the appeal in Mr Darcy. I'm thinking of picking it up again and trying to finish it, though, this summer. I hear he gets better, but I don't know, even if he improves I'm not sure if I'll be able to look past his behavior in the beginning.

Congrats again on getting quoted!

You guys read quite a few books last month! :D I only read 4, and probably going to be the same this month since I have exams.

I can't wait to read Out of Control and Love Letters to the Dead this month, Jasprit. I have my copy ready and waiting for me to read next. Rachel I really enjoyed your review of Red Hill and I'm a huge fan of zombie apocalypses like the TV series The Walking Dead so I think I will be reading that one really soon. I don't tend to read zombie books very much as a genre. Fantastic Wrap-Up post ladies and Congrats on The Assassin's Blade mention! :D

Yay for Janet surprising you! *throw your hands in the air* And, OMG, CONGRATS at the cover quote!!! That's so fantastic!

Thanks for sharing and here's to a great month! *clinks glass*

Only 3 stars as the highest rating, Jasprit? D: I hope this month's much better reading-wise! I'm not a fan of LeZebnik, but I'll have to try Last Best Kiss!

I haven't read anything by Jamie McGuire, Rachel. ><

Congrats on being quoted, girls, that's awesome!!

I do enjoy these posts. I'm so amazed by how many books you all can read in a month. I might read more this summer since I'm out of school, but STILL, I wish I read faster. haha

I'm so excited for you to read The Immortal Crown because I loved that one to bits :D Also, I didn't know Red Hell was a zombie apocalypse book O_O I may not have liked Beautiful Disaster, I'm willing to give her zombie book a try ;)

Wow congrats for being quoted in The Assassin's Blade! I'm reading that soon and will check if mine has you in it. It's a shame that your highest rating was a 3 stars though, Jasprit. Need to get some 5 stars in your system!

Lovely recap, ladies! <33
