Monthly Recap: May

Hi all, this month was one of the busiest ones ever! Work has bee crazy busy, but although I'd thought I'd not read that many books, I was able to squeeze in 8 books somehow! I did however fall behind on my Goodreads reading goal. But I managed to fit in a trip to meet the lovely Allie! I honestly had the best day ever! And I of course stalked all the BEA updates I could find, seriously next year I need to go!

Tessa Ever After (Caged in Winter #2)  Grave Phantoms (Roaring Twenties, #3)  All for You (Paris Hearts, #1)

Thin Dark Line, A Homefront (Homefront, #1)  This Shattered World (Starbound, #2)

Best read of last month:
Jasprit: P.S I Still Love You by Jenny Han, although I didn't end up loving this as much as the first book, this book totally reminded me why I fell for these characters so hard in the first book. Also I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know one character in particular and being back with Lara Jean's family once again!

Rachel:
All around best read would have to be Fair Game by Patricia Briggs.  I love the Mercy Thompson series by her and when I finished all the books I decided to start the Alpha & Omega series from the same world and was very impressed. She is one of the best urban fantasy writers out there and I'm hooked with each and every book.

Book which surprised me the most:
Jasprit: Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella, only because I didn't end up enjoying this one as much as I'd hoped, which is a real shame, as I've been a fan of Kinsella's books for the longest time, and I was super excited to finally get my hands on her first YA book. But this month was an up and down one for me reading-wise, so I'm hoping it's just me.

Rachel:
I'm surprised by how much I loved A Thin Dark Line by Tami Hoag upon a second "reading". There are times when a narrator can give a story that extra umph you wouldn't have just by reading it and this is definitely the case here.

Fictional crush of the month:
Jasprit: I sort of have two :/ I loved being back with Peter Kavinsky, of course I feel as if we didn't get as much of him as I was hoping, but this guy of course crept his way to my heart. And then there was this other character who I really wanted to get his happy ending, he was such a sweetheart. Bless him!

Rachel:
Charles in The Alpha & Omega series by Patricia Briggs.  I just love how protective and sweet the big scary Marrok's assassin is with Anna! I've devoured the series and now have to wait for the next book to publish.

Three books I'm most looking forward to this month:

Burn isn't out until early August in the UK, but being the hardcore fan that I am, I of course had to pre-order my copy from Australia, I am dying to find out what happens and I will finally be able to find out next month! I've been meaning to read Breathe Annie Breathe for the longest time, and with all the review books I've been reading, I think it's about high time I read some of my own books. And I will be picking up Dark Triumph for the Summer of Series Challenge

Rachel:

Nowhere But Here (Thunder Road, #1)  Chasing River (Burying Water, #3)  After the End (After the End #1)

I do love Motorcycle Club books, but I wasn't sure how Nowhere But Here would turn out, being YA. I've good things and so I'm now excited.  K.A. Tucker continues to be a win for me and I'm loving the mystery/suspense aspect she's added in her Burying Water series. Chasing River is set in Dublin and I'm excited for the setting change! I originally passed on After the End by Amy Plum, but I read a few good reviews for the duology and recommended that my husband read the books since they're more his type of read.  He loved them, both getting 5 stars from him (a feat indeed, he's stingy with those 5 stars!).  Hearing his high praise, I requested audio copies through the library, and now I'll be starting After the End later this week.

You've both had a busy month! And you did some great things and read some wonderful books. Fair Game is still my favorite by Patty, Rachel, I loved that book with a fiery passion. And I've been meaning to read The Fill In Boyfriend, but it totally slipped my mind. I seem to be getting old, darn it. Either that, or I've messed up my reading schedule again.

You guys read some great books this month! I'm so glad you liked The Fill-In Boyfriend, Jasprit. I want to read the Jenny Han duology too. It sounds adorable. I'm so sad to see you DNFed Never Always Sometimes. I was looking forward to it. I'm excited to see you're reading 2 of my favorite books next month, Breathe, Annie, Breathe and Dark Triumph.

I need to start the Mercy Thompson series too, Rachel. It sounds like it was a huge success for you. I'm excited that you will be reading Until the Beginning. I love that series. And yay for Chasing River. I can't wait to read it either.

Happy reading! :)

Jasprit, 8 books is such a large number of books for pretty much anyone, ESPECIALLY for someone who is so busy! Looks like you had a great reading month regardless of the business. :D No worried about being behind in your GR challenge, I'm sure you'll catch up super quickly. As for books, I'm glad to hear that you liked PS I Still Love You! I surprised myself by loving To All the Boys, and I honestly am kind of worried for the sequel. Even if it's not as good as the first, I'm really happy that you still liked it. I love that you pre-ordered Burn from Australia, hahaha. I also can't wait to see what you think of Dark Triumph (& I'm definitely checking out this Summer of Series challenge!).

Rachel, go you for reading so many books!! I'm sad to see that This Shattered World as a DNF for you, especially because I enjoyed the first one so much. :/ It also seems like I need to pick up the Mercy Thompson series! This writer seems to be pretty fantastic. I'm extremely interested to see what you think of After the End. I love the cover, but haven't heard high praise, so I initially passed it up as well. So interesting that your husband loved the books! I might try it out in audiobook format as well. :D I've heard amazing things about Nowhere But Here, so I hope you enjoy it! I can't wait to get my hands on a copy.

Overall, looks like you ladies had a phenomenal reading month. Here's to hoping that June is even better! <33

GOOOOD how do you guys read so many books in one month? Haha. I think I've read like twice as much as Rach in this year lol. EEEEEEEEEEP JAZZY I'M SO GLAD YOU LOVED PSISLY! I hope my copy arrives soon because it has taken so long *cries* I hope it's not damaged a lot; usually when it takes more than 2 weeks, they end up being a little damaged :( Sorry to hear you didn't love TSW, Rach! I can't wait to read it myself (I started it once, but wasn't in the mood for it at the time, so hopefully sometime this summer:)) JAS I HOPE YOU LOVE DARK TRIUMPH! Ismae and Duval cameos and Sybella is amazing oh god I love her so much! And Rachel, I'm really excited to see what you think of Katie's newest, because I'm not sure I want to read it lol; truly intrigued on your thoughts ;) EEEEEEEEEEEP MY FAVORITE BEAUTIES I LOVE YOU BOTH SO MUCH AND ONE DAY WE SHALL HANG OUT TOGETHER I PROMISE!

WE NEED A PETER KAVINSKY POV!

I cannot wait another day for Royal Wedding. It was SO long ago since I last read the Princess Diaries series and I miss the characters so much. And BURN! Ohmygod BURN. When it was first announced that the US version is coming out mid 2016 I almost died. I will also order my copy from Australia :)

My May wrap-up.

Awww, you and Allie finally met! Both of you girls look amazingly gorgeous! I wish I could go to London (and Australia!) someday just to hang out (and maybe check out some bookstores?) I do feel sad that This Shattered World ended up as a DNF! Is there going to be a DNF review anytime soon? Or was it already done and I was unaware? XD
