Monthly Recap: February

Hi all, I hope you all had a great reading month! I was planning to be really great this month like so many other bloggers at fitting in all the TV shows with the books, but that didn't really happen this month, but I did finally buy the box set to Suits and watch a few episodes and I can easily say I am a fan already! This year I'm planning to tackle my tbr pile, so the monthly poll is back this month, where you guys can choose which book I should read, the poll can be found at the bottom of the post and you have until the 4th to make your choice. And here's our recap of February for you!

Number of Books read:
Jasprit: 11
Rachel: 17

Highest Rated Book(s):
Jasprit:
Three 5 star reads

Rachel:

Four 5 star reads!

Once Upon a Rose (La Vie en Roses, #1) Worth the Risk (The McKinney Brothers, #2) Blue Lily, Lily Blue (The Raven Cycle, #3) Envy

Lowest Rated Book(s):
Jasprit:
Both of these were DNF's for me

Rachel:
1 star for Fading Out and DNF for Clear

Fading Out (Living Heartwood, #3)  Clear: A Death Trippers Novel

Crash & Burn (Tessa Leoni, #3)  Once Upon a Rose (La Vie en Roses, #1)  Worth the Risk (The McKinney Brothers, #2)
The Trouble with Texas Cowboys (Burnt Boot, Texas, #2)  Blue Lily, Lily Blue (The Raven Cycle, #3)

Best read of last month:
Jasprit: I don't think I'd be able to choose between Archetype and Red Queen, both books were amazing in their own respects, and had me literally sitting on the edge of my seat throughout.

Rachel:
Well you see I have four 5 star reads above, but I think my favorite (hard choice to make!) was Once Upon a Rose by Laura Florand.  It was just so much fun to read.

Book which surprised me the most:
Jasprit: Archetype by M.D Waters. A lot of my blogging friends had enjoyed this one, but as I hadn't heard a lot about it, I waited before finally giving it a go, and boy did it take me by surprise with Waters writing such a exceedingly good storyline.

Rachel:
I was surprised the most by Clear by Jessica Park, but not in a good way.  The story was so different from her other books and it was not my cup of tea at all. I don't like stories with a faulty/unreliable narrator, and there was one more issue that I can't mention because it would spoil the premise of the plot. It was a DNF for me.

Fictional crush of the month:
Jasprit: There were quite a few swoon worthy guys this month, but I'm going to have to go with Michael Moskowitz, I loved this guy when I was growing up and reading the Princess Diaries series, but now he's all grown up, I fell for him even more! Honestly I would go further to even say he would be my dream guy in real life!

Rachel:
Big and growly, teddy-bear at heart Matt in Once Upon a Rose by Laura Florand.  He had a gruff exterior and a sweet, gooey marshmallow center!  Plus, he was flipping HOT!!

Three books I'm most looking forward to this month:

Jasprit:

I ended up devouring Archetype by M.D Waters last month, so I can't wait to finally dive into the crazy world of Prototype, I'm grateful that I have Rashika reading this one with me, as I am super scared. My first book I read by Kirby was last year and I simply loved it, the reviews have been great for Things We Know by Heart so far, so I'm hoping that I will end up loving this one too. And The Winner's Crime really needs no introductions, I have been reading about all the feels people have been having, so I'm ready, sort of...

Rachel:
(Click on titles for Goodreads link)

Return to Me (Covington Cove, #1)  Breath of Scandal  It's Always Been You (Coming Home, #5)

I do love a good second chance romance and Return to Me sounds wonderful! Kelly Moran has high ratings on Goodreads. I've been loving Sandra Brown's mysteries and so I'm excited to read Breath of Scandal, although I do hear it's darker than her other books. We'll see. I really enjoyed Jessica Scott's writing and so I'm looking forward to continuing the Coming Home series.

How cool is this display of The Girl on the Train at my local bookstore? I like how they've come up with their own train ticket for this. I'm really looking forward to getting my hands on this book soon.

11 and 17 books, reading monsters :D! Great job.

It's good to see you enjoyed Red Queen too, I thought it was an amazing set-up for a new series. And Blue Lily, Lily Blue is simply the best.

HEIR OF FIRE, oh yeah. Perfection. I am also excited for The winner's crime.

I am, of course, voting for Dark triumph. One of my favorite series and that is the best installment if you ask me. My OTP <3

You girls have had brilliant reading months, three 5 stars reads Jasprit and 4 Rachel, you definitely know what books you enjoy don't you! I'm reading Red Queen myself this month Jas, so it's good to know you loved it like you did, and I'll be reading Blue Lily this month too Rach, Raven Boys has seriously surprised me! Great month and hopefully March is great for you too! :) Oh yes, Jasprit, read Scarlet, ASAP!<3

Their own train ticket?! WHAT WHAT WHAT WHERE IS THAT AT I WANT MY OWN, TOO! I read that book not too long ago and it. was. glooooorious. Simply, simply riveting and enchanting in its own sickening way. Haha! And I'm so glad I didn't end up buying Trial by Fire. I was at the bookstore looking at the damn book and deciding whether or not I should take the 10 bucks and buy it, but in the end, my gut said no, and I'm glad I didn't in the end @.@ And I really need to read Archetype! I remember Joy at Joyous Read raving all about it!

The Girl on the Train is really good! I've been hearing a lot of great things about The Red Queen. I haven't been reading a whole lot of YA recently, but maybe I should check that one out!

I'm so glad you loved Red Queen so much, Jasprit. I've heard a lot about Archetype. I guess I should get to it. I'm sorry to hear that The Boy Next Door was a DNF for you. :(
Rachel, I'm excited to see that you loved Claudia Connor's book. I have those books in my TBR pile and they sound like a lot of fun. Also, I need to get to Laura Florand asap. I'm curious why you didn't like Fade Out. I liked the first book in that series but never got around to reading the rest.

Things We Know by Heart was a delight, Jasprit! I hope you love it as much as I did.
I need to read a Jessica Scott book. They sound amazing!

Happy reading, ladies!

Sigh. Hoping you might want to give it another try another time. <3 Anyway. Hoping you will both have an amazing March :D Happy reading. <3

Jasprit, I'm so curious to read your thoughts on The Red Queen! It's so exciting that you gave it 5 Stars--haven't seen such a high rating for it, actually. I'm also looking forward to seeing what you think of The Winner's Crime.

Rachel, I am thrilled you loved Florand's Once Upon a Rose as much as you did--Matt is such a sweetheart! I can't wait to hear more about his cousins! ;) I also enjoyed it more than Claudia Connor's latest, though it was also such a charming novel.

Lovely month in re-cap, ladies--I hope March is just as amazing, if not more!

Wow, you both had a lot of five star reads this past month. That's awesome.

I had no idea about Royal Wedding!! I didn't finish all the Princess Diaries books but I read a lot of them when I was younger and really loved them too.

And I voted for Dreams of Gods and Monsters because I'm reading it now, but Scarlet would be my second choice.

Nice to see those five star reads up there. I have had a few in January and February which has been nice. I still need to read Stiefvater! I am sad to hear Park's book was a big miss for you, Rachel. I was disappointed in Left Drowning, so it will be awile before I try her again. Hopefully March will be a terrific reading month.

JASPRIT. I WAS GOING TO TEXT YOU ABOUT PROTOTYPE. I will do that once I finish commenting but omg I AM SO EXCITED and terrified and I am a 100% you will be getting ranty, curse filled, text messages because I know I am going to be mad at a certain character. At least I don't have to deal with that alll bah myselffff.

Also also also... it makes me really happy you were able to be reacquainted with Michael. I only read book 1 and I loved him. I get to be reunited with my sweetheart next year when Mediator #7 comes out :') I am counting down the days.

Also I am still calling dibs on Noah <3

Wait..... did we talk about Red Queen? I cannot remember..... either way I iz glad you enjoyed the book! :D :D that twist in the end was sooooo *flails*

I know Keertana really liked Once Upon a Rose so I am happy to see you enjoyed it as well! One of these days, I'll actually pick up Florand's series instead of just feeling really mushy gushy when I think about Snow-Kissed. :P

I adore second chance romance so I am going to go add Return to Me to my TBR. :D It sounds super cute and asdnasdjjda. I need all the second chance romances basically... I haven't read a lot of romances lately and I've really been craving a good one!

I am so glad both of you guys had so many 5 star reads this month!!! That makes me happy! This month has been pretty good book wise for me as well... let's just hope March goes that way too! :)

Man I have heard so much about how awesome The Winner's Crime is, I'll be picking it up fairly soon as well! Man, I was just so disappointed with the Red Queen, I'm glad you were able to enjoy it. A shame Trial by Fire was a DNF for you Jasprit, because I really enjoyed that one!

Rachel, hope you enjoy Blue Lily Blue, I've heard good things :D
