Top Ten Tuesday #11: Books I've read in 2013 so far.

Is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish where each week they post a new top ten list and ask fellow bloggers to share their lists on that topic.

Today's top ten topic is: Top Ten Books I've read in 2013 so far.

2013 has been an incredible reading year so far, that I once again had a tough time just sticking to ten books for this weeks post.

Just One Day by Gayle Forman | If He Had Been with Me by Laura Nowlin | The Book of Broken Hearts by Sarah Ockler

These three books became instant favourites as they left me in a complete mess in the best way possible. I remember staying up until the early hours just to find out how things would end and thinking about the book for days afterwards.

These three books had been receiving incredible hype from by blogging friends and I was extremely wary about jumping on the bandwagon. But I'm so glad that I gave these books a try, they simply blew me away and I can't wait for their follow up books.

You Look Different in Real Life by Jennifer Castle | Parallel by Lauren Miller | The Lost Girl by Sangu Mandanna

These three books I hadn't heard a lot about when I first went into them, so didn't really have any high expectations. But these books were breath-takingly beautiful.

Confessions of An Almost-Girlfriend by Louise Rozett | The Eternity Cure by Julie Kagawa | Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas

These three books were just the best follow up books ever, I loved all first books in the series, but these books in my eyes just took things to a whole another level.

So that's my top ten twelve books that I've read in 2013 so far, did any of these books make it to your list too? Feel free to link me up with your own list in the comments below!

I adored The Lost Girl last year - I can't wait for Mandanna's next novel! The Gathering Dark (or, Shadow and Bone, as I know it as) is such an all-around incredible book. I'm glad you enjoyed it! Happy reading. :)

I have GOT to read Just One Day--I've heard it's so, so good!

Sadly, Just One Day is not a favorite of mine but I'm glad it worked extremely well for you! Gah, I bet The 5th Wave is going to be on EVERYONE'S favorites list this year, which means I need to read it ASAP! I'm so excited that Crown of Midnight was fantastic as well. Awesome list, Jasprit! :)

Just One Day and Book of Broken Hearts!! Both are favorites of mine and I get what you're saying about staying up all night to finish them! (well in my case - I stopped watching TV and or whatever else I was doing, but still)

great list!

Ah I'm jealous because of Crown of Midnight. Also I loved Just One Day and The Eternity Cure :) I've read Angelfall a while ago and I'm glad you love it. Great list Jasprit :)

I enjoyed Confessions of an Almost Girlfriend, good choice! I would like to read Just One Day at some point - I'm a big fan of Forman's two previous books and I know this one is meant to be pretty amazing too!

True those sequels were fantastic, no 'sequel syndrome' where it feels like everything's on hold waiting for the third instalment, these were class A fab follow-ups...well Crown of Midnight I'm still reading, but I get that sense :) I'll have to try Angelfall. Great list, Jasprit.

Melissa (i swim for oceans) said...

I think it's safe to say that I fail, since I've yet to read ANY of those books on your list, Jasprit. I'm really intrigued by JUST ONE DAY though, and I want to read THE 5th WAVE because I've seen such mixed reviews. I wonder where my thoughts would fall in the spectrum! Great list this week, girl! :)

I'm glad you liked You Look Different in Real Life and Parallel because I cannot wait to read those books! And that's great that you read such good sequels because follow up books are so often a disappointment. I have encountered a surprisingly large number of good second novels in a series that actually improve upon the first, and it is always a pleasant phenomenon.

Sara @ Forever 17 Books said...

Angelfall! Love that book so much! Parallel was soclose to being on my list. Really liked that book a lot too. I have got to read Just One Day and The Book of Broken Hearts. Great list!

Ooh mah gerd. Your list is pros sky the best I've seen today. The 5th Wave was just dead amazing- one of my FAV science fictions this year. Just One Day, Confessions and Eternity Cure were also fantastic reads. I wasn't a fan of You Look Different in Real Life though.

Thanks for sharing, Jasprit! <33

I had never heard of If He Had Been With Me so I thank you for that! What a great list! If you liked Parallel and haven't read Pivot Point I would highly recommend it.

Ahh! Just One Day was so darn good! That was probably the best book I have read this year as well. I really want to get my hands on The Book Of Broken Hearts, I've heard great things about it.

There are at least 5 books in your list that topped my favorite reads so far too. As for the rest, I haven't tried them out yet. I'll be on the look-out though!

Jenny said...

Oooo you've got some of my favorites up there Jasprit! Angelfall was a huge surprise read for me last year, that one just blew me away! I need book 2 immediately, I think I've been waiting forever ;-) I of course adored Shadow & Bone and The Immortal Rules as well. SO MUCH GOODNESS!

The majority of these are on my list which I have yet to read. Great picks!

My blog parter would LOVE your list. So many of these were books she really enjoyed this year. I actually bought "You Look Different in Real Life" because of her high praise! The same with "If He Had Been with Me."

Since she and I split the list, I couldn't fit Book of Broken Hearts and it BROKE MY HEART. Def a top read of my year. I read it through twice. :)

Nice job, lady! Happy reading!

I can't read THAT much or I'll read myself to grave LOL, but I will check them out asap. *frowns at her enormous tbr pile* I think 36 hrs day should be more appropriate then 24 -.-

I love love loved The Gathering Dark/Shadow & Bone. It was seriously SUCH fantastic book. One of my favorites of last year! I've heard great things about If He Had Been With Me, so I'm looking forward to picking that one up. I just put a hold for The Book of Broken Hearts at my library, actually, because I remember being SO excited for that one before its release. Hopefully it lives up to my expectations. I've only seen GUSHING reviews for The 5th Wave, so hopefully I'll be able to pick that one up soon!! I've had Angelfall sitting on my Kindle for what seems like forever, seriously. That's another one I'll be reading this summer!

Lovely list, Jasprit! <3

So many of my own favourites! I loved Angelfall, Shadow & Bone and Crown of Midnight too (as you already know!). I still need to read The Lost Girl and The Book of Broken Hearts, but I have copies of both, so I'll probably get around to them sometime later this year. I can't belive we're halfway through 2013 already. :D

I think I told you this before, but I LOVE your header!! It's so pretty! Anyway The Book of Broken Hearts and Confessions are on my MUST READS for this summer. I love Sarah Ockler and the first Confessions book, so I am super excited for both. You Look Different and If He Had Been With Me both look like books I need to read as well! Cool list :)

I still need to read Just One Day! I've heard a million good things about it and seeing it in your Top Twelve is rather encouraging! I'm also yet to read The 5th Wave and Angelfall but everyone seems to be raving about them. And ohmigosh... CROWN OF MIDNIGHT!!!!! I really enjoyed Throne of Glass and really need to read the second book!

Fab list, Jasprit!

Ugh! I have yet to read a single book on your list, even though I have almost all of them in my TBR. I am dying to get into the Fifth Wave , I just haven't had the time yet. Great picks, Jasprit!

The 5th Wave, Angelfall and The Gathering Dark would make my top ten too I think. They were so good :)

Keertana said...

Angelfall and The Lost Girl were two of my all-time faves from last year, so I'm thrilled to see those on this list! I also just adored Just One Day - SO good! Lovely list, dear! :)

Unknown said...

That's quite a list, Jas. I had to look up The Gathering Dark by Leigh Bardugo. Lol. I didn't realize it had a different title. :) Anyway, I'm so jealous that you got to pre-read Crown at Midnight. Though I'm not sure why since I haven't read Throne of Glass (I'm such a weirdo!).

Angelfall is one of the best I've read and of course, If He Had Been With Me was awesome as well.

:)

Unknown said...

Great list! I've only read If He Had Been with Me, but have several of the others. Book of Broken Hearts and Parallel are high on my list of to read. Thanks for sharing!

Livvy said...

The Lost Girl, Angelfall and The Gathering Dark are all on my to-read list. I feel like I haven't read any of the popular YA at the moment!

Still, I read The Eternity Cure and I really enjoyed it as a second novel, but not quite as good as the first in my view.

However, I think this is a fabulous list and I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for some of those! :)

Jess said...

Some of these are my favourites too, Jas! I'll have to check out the others especially If He Has Been With Me, Angelfall, Parallel and Crown of Midnight as I have them waiting for me! Great list :)
